COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep golden color. Citrus and piney hop aromas. Assertive malt backbone supporting the overwhelming bitterness. Dry hopped in the fermenter with four types of hops giving an explosive hop aroma. Previously known as 21A-IPA.

Clear amber/gold with thick foamy head. Grapefruit, flowery and woodsy hops in aroma, along with some caramel and nuttiness. Moderately thin mouthfeel with prickly carbonation. Lively bitterness on tip of tongue, woodsy hops, light roast, and slight citrus bite, turns into grassy and resin bitterness that lasts well beyond the finish on the top of the palate. Nice and bitter, very interesting flavor. Enjoyable and flavorful while still bery drinkable, 7% is hidden well.

12 oz can
Once again thanks to Tom for sending a gem my way. This is a well rounded IPA that could easily be a daily drinker if it were available locally. The fact that it comes in a can is a bonus. On par with most anything from Oskar Blueís canned lineup everyone should give this a try if they can. Just donít age it or you will miss out on some very wonderful hoppiness.

Aroma / Appearance - The huge billowing head surged like the surf against a cliff. The golden carbonated body contained a melding of fresh cut grass, tart lemonade, and floral notes. It is everything I expected from an IPA.

Flavor / Palate - Tasting like brown sugar mixed with clover the combination of sweetness and bitterness rouses the senses. Easy on the palate and dangerously drinkable given the ABV this disappeared within ten minutes. I canít remember off the top of my head if I have tried any other canned IPAs but this certainly blows the lid off most things you get in one.

Can. Moderate malt aromas of caramel and roasted, moderate to heavy hops of pine and grapefruit, light soap, with toffee and dried fruit. Head is average size, frothy, off-white with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear light amber/orange. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and acidic, then the long finish is lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, watery and has a soft carbonation. It still amazes me when a quality beer, such as this comes out of a can.

Really nice IPA, I tried not to have any preconceived notions on a beer in a can, but it was surprisingly good. Well represented a west coast IPA in the floral, citrus, and pine tastes, the only thing Iíll say is that the palate is a little "fat", not crisp or clean, but a very enjoyable IPA that I will definitely have again.

UPDATED: NOV 21, 2009 THOUGHTS: Nice IPA and great for coming from a can. Great balance. Had to pour a second glass when I was only halfway done the first because there was a black fly in my IPA. It wasnít ironic. Not real complex, but nice. TECHNICAL: Can. Poured a light to medium golden orange with an average to large, off-white head that mostly diminished, but left excellent lacing. The aroma was nice but a little weak. There was light caramel malt, light to moderate grapefruit and orange citric hops that leaned more toward the orange side and a little orange creamsicle. Later, as it warmed there were piney hops. The initial flavor was rather sweet, bitter and a little acidic; while the finish was sweet, rather bitter and slightly acidic with an average to long duration. There was caramel, orangey hops, orange rind, a slight orange creamsicle thing too, slight metallic hops and a little grapefruity hops.

Can from State Line Liquors. Faintly hazy deep orange pour, with a fine crisp head. Slight butter note amidst an aroma thatís generally pert and citric. Body is medium, slightly slick. The flavor is initially more malty than expected but cedes quickly to grassy hops in abundance. Itís relatively one-dimensional, but a fairly flavorful and potential go-to IPA.

This is my second beer from 21st after trying the watermelon wheat and am impressed with their brewery. This IPA was very dry in the hopping but it really provided a clean and crisp palate taste and finish. Good amount of hops too for an IPA and a slight hit of citrus just enough to cut the bite.

12 oz can from Johnís - This is a really tasty beer. And it comes from a can!! This sure would have come in handy on all those camping trips, although there isnít a mountain on the can.

Cloudy amber appearance with a large, off white head and good lacing. Citrus hop aroma, with grapefruit and lemon in the forefront. Resinous, citrusy hop taste, with some sweet malts buried in the background. Medium bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel with a dry, bitter, lingering finish.

Clear golden yellow color with a small head. Aroma has some citrus hops and grapefruit. Flavor has citrus hops and more grapefruit. Draft and can, both pretty similar, not bad.
