COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep golden color. Citrus and piney hop aromas. Assertive malt backbone supporting the overwhelming bitterness. Dry hopped in the fermenter with four types of hops giving an explosive hop aroma. Previously known as 21A-IPA.

UPDATED: AUG 7, 2011 Had again on tap. Much better than the first time for whatever reason. Usual piney, hoppy IPA, but a welcomed sweetness (along with hoppiness) on the taste.

Can at a BBQ on my birthday. Good IPA with some citrus, pine, decent amount of malt and a strong bitterness from the hops.

August 2010. From a can. Amber color with a nice white head. Got the right bones for a great IPA and doesn’t disappoint. Big on aroma and flavor. Well made!

Draft at Draught 55. Pours golden yellow without much head. Aroma is bright grapefruit juice and zest with slight notes of pine. Taste is juicy hops with notes of grapefruit and other citrus. Slightly bitter pine resin finish. Overall, very clean and bright. Pretty tasty.

It’s better than average, but only slightly. It was lack the floral aroma I enjoy in an IPA.

very balanced brew. Doesn’t taste like 70 IBU’s , nice floral hop hit then malts. Malts shine here but the hop choice is good if not great.

Had this never in Hilton Head out of a can. This IPA is not so much citrus and more what I would call vegetal with a slight red ale taste. Overall a good IPA. Could drink it again.

have enjoyed all my previous cans from this brewery, and this was good too .. . deep ornage gold .. massive foam .. . green hops, grain, and fresh leaves, some citrus too .. . clean and tasty .. . .
Well, we had this incredible chemistry. Everything just clicked, you know, the way she looked at me, the conversation, I felt witty, I felt sexy, I felt...
Those are all disgusting things, Dad.

12 oz can poured into a pint glass. A: Pours an amber color with tiny specks of yeast floating around. The head is a creamy two finger offwhite shade. While retention isn’t the greatest, I love the texture and the lacing it leaves behind. S: The hops have faded a bit on this one, but it still provides hints of pine and grapefruit. There’s a lot of caramel and toffee malt featured here, as well. Decent aroma here. T: I first notice some minor piny hop flavors to start, before it washes away with a lot toffee-esque malt. The finish is earthy with touches of fruity esters (unheard of in an American IPA, it seems); to the point where one could mistake the back end for excess booziness. The earthy nature of the malts aren’t my cup of tea, but it’s okay otherwise. Seems to be a bit more complex than many others in the style. M: It’s well attenuated for all of its maltiness, creating a fairly dry brew in spite of the faded hops and creamy feel. There is a bit of lingering sweetness on the front of the palate, which is expected. O: Gotta love a canned IPA, even if this one isn’t fantastic. I’ll have to give this a second chance fresh.
