GABF 2006: Hazy yellow color with an off-white head. Pine and citrus aroma hits your face. For the most part the malt is hidden but that is a good thing. Piney hop flavor does show its malty side however. Nice beer I would like to see them can this stuff.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On draft at brewpub. Deep golden amber color with a creamy off-white head that leaves thick lace. Rich, fruity sweet aroma, with plentiful citrus and pine hops, though nicely balanced with the rich malts. Sweet caramel malt backbone supports bold and bright hoppiness - orange, grapefruit and floral notes are prominent. Full body and creamy carbonation. Quite good overall.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear amber, very good off-white head leaving lace. Hop bails, fresh hops, lunaria, grapefruit and fresh blossoms in the nose. Some base by malted grains, and then the best hops in the world kick in, in a great way. Sweet with a point of sourness, but very little bitterness, the hops are pure flavour. Citrus again, of course. Middle to well-bodied, slick, oily. Great IPA, the strenght of Steve & Shaun, and the rest of the Californian brewers. And this sample wasn’t even in the best of condition!

Had on tap at the brewpub in downtown San Francisco. Medium orange pour with a light white head. Very clean, minty aroma. Sweet citusy flavor with some malty caramel in the back end. Bit of vanilla creeps in as well. Mouthfeel is a little thin considering the ABV and flavor. Best of the bunch at 21st Amendment.

On tap at my house...well, via a handbottled sample from MWSF!! Pops open, a good first indication. Pours an opaque walnut brown and still manages to bubble up a bit on the surface. I stucj my nose under it and I’m completely in awe. Hoppy to all hell with a very aggressive malt background. Pine and grass with firey alcohol within. Body is rich, thick, clean. Soft on flavor at the start, big pine and orange flavors tickle my tongue, sweet appley malts and alcohol back that up. Hints of sourness from it’s long journey are mixed into the glorious hoppy tail end. That’s a big one. I envy you all with your fresh pints!!
