COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like FDR’s Depression-Era Radio Addresses, which were like a kick in the butt and a hug at the same time, our Fireside Chat is a subtle twist on the traditional seasonal brew. We begin with a rich, dark, English-style ale and then we improvise with spices until we know we have a beer worth sharing with the nation. Celebrating the right to be original.

12 oz can from Sixteen Tons. Poured brown with a reddish tint with an inch of tan foam capping it all. Aroma was cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, caramel and toffee. Very nice aroma all in all. Flavor was a little less enjoyable, the spices are far more subdued and the caramel and toffee take over with a bit of nuttiness as well. The aftertaste brought the spices more to the fore, and they lingered nicely. A little too thin in the mouth for me as well. If only this one had tasted as good as it smelled...

12oz can.2nd time tasting this beer.First can was bad with a HEAVY metallic taste.2nd can poures a dark brown with a medium brown fluffy head.Nose is holiday type spices with toasted malts as well.Taste is spices, bread, heavy malts, sweet caramel notes and clove.Decent balance. This is another decent "holiday"beer but nowhere in the ballpark of Sweetwater Festive and the other leaders of the pack in this style catergory.

12oz can. Pours a deep light walnut brown with nice uniform and tight khaki head that falls rather quickly. Touch of hops and vegital notes, but mostly brown sugar, tobacco and plenty of spices...clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla and allspice. Whoa, nose was slightly promising, but first sip not so much. Thin mouthfeel with small flabby carb feel. Plenty of metallic twang up front, flat boring sparse spicing, with a basic lightly nutty brown base beer. The metallic kills it for me just like with the back and black and this will meet the drain as well.

Mild nutty aroma, with just a touch of spice. Pours a dark brown, with ruby highlights when held up to the light, with a thin cap of light brown head. The spicing is the predominant flavor in this beer, with just a touch of malt in the back end. The spicing is reminiscent of Anchor’s Our Special Ale, so if you like that beer, this would be another one to try. The palate is a bit astringent, but it’s a nice sipping beer. I may have to pick some more of this one up and see how it holds up over time.

Nose is initially lightly metallic on top of a shit tons of spices, dark malt sweetness, light clovey characteristics, cinnamon notes. Pours dark brown almost black with a off white head and sticky lace. Notes of dark malt, some roast, a bunch of spicy sweetness, clove, and light metallic notes. Some alcohol peaks through as well. Not my favorite, not a huge fan of spiced beers which confuses me as to why I even bought this...

can. pours a dark brown / deep red with a big 2 finger off white head... which sticks around for a bit (although smaller in size). nutmeg, cinnamon and dark fruit on the nose - very inviting. medium body with a good level of carbonation. more spices throughout with layers of chocolate, tart apples, dark cherries and roasted malts. finishes a bit thin, but very roasty. the dark malts stick around for a bit with lingering citrus bitterness as well.

Can served in a Duvel tulip. Pours a lovely dark chestnut topped by a sticky khaki head. The nose has a Belgian character, spicy with some dark fruit and a hint of sour. The flavor is nothing like the smell and is actually quite bland. It is very bitter and metallic. Has an infected quality to it. Maybe aging would help it but as it is right now it is almost undrinkable.

UPDATED: OCT 26, 2010 Dark chestnut brown with a creamed lightly browned head. Aroma of English Crystal malts, caramel, muddling spice. Spicy nose, almost a Belgian Dubbel character, but with a more piquant quality. Musky and peppery. Flavor is somewhat stale malting with some tinnyness and along with some allspice and perhaps cinnamon. The body also has that musky quality and some szechuan pepper heat on the finish. In my afterthoughts, it seeps in that this was perhaps permeated by a vein of Brett. Interesting complexity.

Toasty roasted aroma, little dusting of nutmeg over a smooth brown ale. spice note along with the beer flattens out in the sip. hmm. broken down, gently spiced mild.
