Like FDRs Depression-Era Radio Addresses, which were like a kick in the butt and a hug at the same time, our Fireside Chat is a subtle twist on the traditional seasonal brew. We begin with a rich, dark, English-style ale and then we improvise with spices until we know we have a beer worth sharing with the nation. Celebrating the right to be original.

Pours cola brown with a quickly dissipating small head. Aroma is pumpkin pie spices, roasty malts, some sweetness. It tastes similar to how it smells, but has a strange bitter aftertaste, sort of like burnt malts. Its pretty full-bodied with gentle carbonation. The alcohol is masked reasonable well. Not bad, not great.

Sample at Ale Wine & Spirits in Powell on 11/10/2011. This beer is a dark brownish-amber color with a medium foamy tan head that recedes slowly. Aroma of sweet malt, cherry and spice. Medium body with a nearly cloying sweet caramel malt character plus notes of fruits and spices. The finish is sweet with a toasty malt and ginger aftertaste. Decent overall.

Thanks to my awesome trading partner that bonused me this one- I think it was hamilton23. Cheersm Steve! Pours a medium brown with a tan-ish head. Nose is spicy- spruce, nutmeg, and maybe sarsaparilla? I also get some nutty flavors and a feeling that reminds me of the holidays. Flavor starts with spice kick- spruce, nutmeg, maybe some plums, and some sarsaparilla-esque spices and nuts with some yeasty dryness leading to the finish. Finish lingers with spruce and some cola-esque flavors. Interesting.

Can. Dark brown pour with a caramel colored head. Aroma is cola, pumpkin spices, nutty malt like a brown ale. Flavor is the same, pretty sweet at first, with some roasted / toasted caramel malt, but the cola and spices create a slightly bitter finish. I enjoyed it.
