3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
From a 12 ounce can. Second year of having this. Aroma of spiced apple, but tastes like chocolate, nutmeg, and other winter spices. Really enjoy this.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
12 ounce can purchased at The Davis Beer Shoppe. The aroma on this is heavy on the spices with nutmeg and perhaps some spruce tips. Whatever the spices are, they impart an unpleasant burnt rubbery character to the aroma, making this very unpleasant to smell. Somewhat transparent cola-colored body with a smallish cream-colored head present. Starts a bit sweet and sticky...has a buttery diacetyl-like mouthfeel. Becomes roasted and a little burnt in the middle. Finishes with more piney spruce tip-like flavors, with a little underlying sugary sweetness. Has more of a rotten vegetable finish. Not good at all.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Quite comparable to a deep brown ale, this beer lingers on the palate like a porter bit pours closer to the brown. The 7.9 abv isnít tasted, but is felt later.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured a dark cola color with a huge tan head. Aroma is caramel, raisin, smoke, spice, and toast. Taste is raisins, smoke, spice, with a dry and boozey finish. Itís better when it gets a bit warmer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap 11/23, pours a muddy brown color with a off white head that leaves good lacing. Smells of spices, cinnamon , raisins and other dark fruits. Tastes of spices and dark fruit with a decent hop presence. Mouthfeel is light and creamy with good carbonation. This is a pretty sweet, but great winter ale. Iím surprised by the low ratings it got.

2.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Like a beautiful woman with an STD Smells great looks fantastic One taste and youíre sorry you brought her home. They emptied the cupboard on this one and thereís so much going on you cannot focus on one taste. the smoky chocolate aroma is overcome by bitterness in the first taste. A shame have had much better from this brewer

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap @ Chuckís 85th. Pours very dark reddish brown with thin creamy head. Aroma is a spice medley: cinnamon, brown sugar, allspice. Taste is rich dark charred chocolate malts that finishes sharply bitter. Mild spice notes linger afterward. Somewhat thinnish body, but really doesnít detract as this has so much going on otherwise. Maybe not the best winter beer around, but definitely one of a kind.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured out of a 12 oz. can. Very nice head and retention. The beer has a light, yet complex taste of spices. The appearance and taste is right up the Christmas beer alley. A very solid beer.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can: dark red-brown pour with large khaki head. Aroma is sweet with caramel and some light cinnamon and nutmeg spices. Flavor is malty sweet with caramel and brown sugar then moves into a mix of holiday spices - something like cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and yeast. Nice flavor, and spices are prominent but not overpowering, a good holiday beer.
