Like FDR’s Depression-Era Radio Addresses, which were like a kick in the butt and a hug at the same time, our Fireside Chat is a subtle twist on the traditional seasonal brew. We begin with a rich, dark, English-style ale and then we improvise with spices until we know we have a beer worth sharing with the nation. Celebrating the right to be original.

Drier than expected, three finger beige head. The aroma of the allspice was nice, could benefit from vanilla

Lots of bitter and sour. A Bit malty but not much sweetness. Spices were barely noticeable. Very flavorful but not very good.

Aroma of spices, some pine, dark fruits. Deep red color...almost deep brown. Thick tan head. Sweet up front. Cinnamon, brown sugared fruits, and some candy cane. Bitterness cuts in nicely. Peppermint and some alcohol burn on the finish. Slightly water texture. O.k.

Klares orange braunes Bier mit einer geringen leicht beigen Schaumkrone. Geruch nach Kürbis, Gewürzen, dunkles malz. Geschmack würzig, Kürbis, Zimt, dunkles malz.

12oz can thanks to Rob. Poured a super dark chocolate brown almost black body with a smaller tight foamy super off white head. Aroma of dark malts, graham crackers, light nutmeg and allspice along with just a hint of orange citrusy hops. Flavor is pretty much the same like a ightly nutmeg spiced graham cracker chased with a tiny touch of orange slice. Not bad but sort of meh to me.

Aroma has some spices. Taste is a sweet roasted malt with hints of spice. Overall just an OK winter beer.

Hyde park is but a hop skip and a jump from my house. While this brown spice winter thing is going on, there is not much of spice or winter going on in this brew. It is easily drinkable and pleasant to behold. I could drink a few of these..... glad I bought a six pack.

Well, a drinkable brown. Hints of, but predominance given to, roast malts, caramel tastiness. Quickly fading caramel head. Decent sessionable beer.

DATE TASTED: January 7, 2016... GLASSWARE: Mad Elf tulip... OCCASION... returning back from LVR/Jefferson wrestling match and an emotional day giving Uncle Vincey back to God... APPEARANCE: purplish brown body that loses its opaqueness when held to the light; head is slushy dirty snow, clumped and riddled with holes; head is resilient, and releases quality lacing as the glass drains ... AROMA: mineral aromas immediately, with cinnamon, pepper, vanilla, toffee, chocolate, sugary malts and baking bread... a fruitcake is also detectable, as the holiday milieu would suggest--inviting, overall... PALATE: reasonably medium-bodied, with strength and warmth but a stout-like drinkability at 7.9%...aftertaste is chewable and palpable with an odd note that detracts slightly...otherwise, nothing outstanding in this department... TASTE: a chocolate fruitcake is best employed when describing the Chat--a full-flavored, toffee, caramel and milk-infused, toasted bread beer that feeds as it is sipped...secondary flavors of port, fig and medicinal undertones make for an interesting combination.... OVERALL: a dessert beer that packs in a variety of flavors and keeps the alcohol humming without infecting its vibe...finishes with a maltiness that endears it to wintertime...effective in its attempt and enjoyable to a degree, though it lacks more hop complexity...still, the toasted quality evokes the feel of a winter’s eve, and the malts make for a hearty drinking experience...
