COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like FDR’s Depression-Era Radio Addresses, which were like a kick in the butt and a hug at the same time, our Fireside Chat is a subtle twist on the traditional seasonal brew. We begin with a rich, dark, English-style ale and then we improvise with spices until we know we have a beer worth sharing with the nation. Celebrating the right to be original.

Drier than expected, three finger beige head. The aroma of the allspice was nice, could benefit from vanilla

Dark Amber, almost brown with a nice foamy head. Spicy, I think ginger, pepper and clove. Medium body and pleasant to sip. Slightly bitter aftertaste.

Good seasonal beer. Spicy but not too overwhelming on the cinnamon and nutmeg. Great on a cold night. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz. can from Vintage Estates Wine and Beer, poured into a Sam Adams "perfect pint." Looks like a brown ale, wit the same thing but present beige head. Smells like a brown ale, or a little bit like an ESB. Some spices come through on the nose, but nothing very powerfully. Well balanced flavor profile, nothing overwhelming about the spices but nutmeg is the most noticeable. Tastes like a perfectly good brown ale with a little bit more going on. Against other winter seasonal, though, it’s hard for it to measure up.

EBD 1/31/15. Pours a clear dark amber with a beautiful deep dark ruby hue. World class head volume, lacing and retention. Light nose of dark fruit (figs) over light spice (cinnamon, ginger) with notes of burnt molasses. As it warms, light alcohol notes are noted with a bourbon quality. Almost light medium body with a bit of smooth texture. Slightly below normal carbonation with little effervescence in the finish. The flavor profile is somewhat intense, quite complex and very well balanced. It begins with a wisp of fig that flows into a light sweet molasses with a burnt character. In the middle, these yield to the spices that impart a mild spicy bitterness. The finish is a slow fade of bitterness to caramel sweetness. As the sweetness fades, a slightly astringent aftertaste lingers of ginger over light cinnamon. The 6.9% alcohol is totally hidden.

Pours brown with red hues and a filmy, off white head. caramel and spiced nose, cinnamon. Caramel background quickly overtaken by a bunch of spices, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg. Very spice rack-esque. Not bad. Done well, just not my deal.

Can. Deep maroon. Aroma is dark fruit, raisin, and winter spice. The taste follows adding roasted malt and some kind of nutty flavor. Smooth medium mouthfeel. The worst part is the Medicinal aftertaste. Not bad, but nothing special ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from can. Nice aroma of dried fruit, brown sugar and spice. Looks good too - solid mahogany with lacing tan head. Dried fruit, spice and cinnamon dominate flavor, with toasted malt, nut and citrus. Not as sweet as others of this style. Smoke notes. Maybe even a hint of coffee in there too. Not for everyone, but I like it.

Not a bad beer at all. It's thick, spicy, and looks great. Just not that impressive. It's good not great. But it's a good deal for the money. Definitely worth a try!
