COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The story starts in 1999 when Shaun O’Sullivan walked into my Seattle pub. He’d heard about my massive pumpkin fest and wanted to get together and brew a pumpkin beer like no other: a Baltic-style Porter brewed with pumpkin, caraway and cinnamon. In a light colored can.

Aroma of chocolate and cinnamon. Dark porter appearance. Taste all I get is chocolate and massive amounts of cinnamon. I like the Belgium triple more.

Solid presentation in a tulip with light head. Sweet and spice on the nose. Porter mouthfeel, pumpkins come through clearly, but not overly strong. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can shared at Cafe Abseits during the Bamberg Jolly - January 2014. Cheers! Pours clear brown with a creamy, off-white head. Very good stuff, with some cocoa, light pumpkin, mellow spices. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Fairly sweet on the finish, with more notes of chocolate blended with fleshy pumpkin, and well seasoned with cinnamon. Nice beer.

Can. Pours black with a thick tan head. Bready aroma. Thick mouthfeel with a burnt flavor tinged with spice, maybe cinnamon. This is kind of an odd combo and I’m not sure how I feel about this one. I think it might be better without the spice.

At a tasting, thanks, smallish creamy head, opaque very dark brown color, aroma of sesame, ginger, some pumpkin and cola, flavor of ginger, sesame cola and soy, feels oriental, quite sweet. Interesting and drinkable but a bit to spicy.

Can sample at a tasting at troubles’s place. Thanks troubles. Dark brown to black. Aroma of lots of winter spices, caramel, a bit of chocolate, roast. Sweet flavor with caramel, chocolate, lots of spices, a bit of bitterness. Medium-bodied. Not my thing.

Bottle. Poured black from the can. Large tan head. Aroma consists of chocolate, nuts, pumpkin and spices. Taste is sweeter than I expected with good chocolate malts. Pumpkin and spices are more subtle. Nutty sweet finish with caramel. Great!

On draft at World of Beer Westchase. Pours a deep porter brown with a tan head. Nose is earth, cocoa, chocolate, mild spice, and some plummy goodness with bits of yeast. Flavor is similar with earth, cocoa, spice, plum, chocolate, and some mild yeast with hints of spice. Medium to full in body with lingering fruit and chocolate.

(can into glass) OK, maybe a creative idea that sounded good but fell short. Dark brown complexion with thin dissipating head. The flavor is is like someone dumped some pumpkin beer in my baltic porter. The pumpkin is intrusive and seems out of place. Not my thing. Liked the pumpkin Tripel much better.

On tap @ 21A San Leandro. Very dark brown in color with a thin khaki head. Like this one better than the pumpkin Tripel right off the bat. Chocolate and spices are pretty dominant. Good bit of cinnamon, though it starts to come off a little chalky on the finish. Sweet dark fruits, cherry, and toast. Light acidity and bitterness. It’s decent enough.

Can pour into pint glass from Epsom Circle Market, Epsom NH. Aroma is mild roasted malt, smoke, chocolate and pumpkin spice, late alcohol. Appearance is very dark opaque brown, with mild sparkle at sides of glass, thin foamy beige head with nice soapy lacing. Taste is mild roasty malt base with pumpkin spice, caraway and late cinnamon. Palate is medium bodied with soft, silky texture, average carbonation and spicy, dry finish. Overall, fairly subtle all around with a unique twist from the caraway.
