COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The story starts in 2010 when Dick Cantwell walked into our San Francisco pub. We’d heard about his little pumpkin fest and wanted to get together to brew a pumpkin beer like no other: a Belgian-style Tripel brewed with pumpkin, galangal and terragon. In a dark colored can.

12 oz can poured into a pint glass. Pours cloudy golden orange with thin white head. Aroma is punchy caraway and a slightly sweet nutty flavor. Taste is thin light caramel malt with a somewhat abrasive earthy spicy finish. Notes of pumpkin spice, nutmeg, and clove. Not at all sweet, quite bitter on the finish. Can’t say I’d suspect this was a Tripel at all. The box, the can, the story - these guys are simply the best in the biz at packaging. Yet again.

Can, from Capones, Norristown PA, split at Colin and the Vikings "pre" tasting, Nol, Goteborg, Sweden 22/03/14. Lightly hazed pale golden with a big off white head that fast collapses edgeward. Nose is big on spice, ginger, bitter fruit, straw, pumpkin pie. Taste comprises caramel, spice, dark fruits, more pumpkin pie, ripe orange. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying crisp close. Ok stuff.

12 ounce can from Hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. A one finger white head slowly falls. The beer is dingy golden and is hazy. I got banana and cloves in the aroma. Ron’s nose was better than mind and correctly called pumpkin. The flavor is full of it and it is a pumpkin pie flavor with nutmeg. Put some whipped cream on this one! There are also some Belgian influences with the yeast. The finish brings more of the tripel. A unique beer and I am still not quite sure what to think of it. Not among the best pumpkin beers I have had but I did enjoy it and appreciate the uniqueness.

The 12 oz can was shared with Srykzone on Facebook Chat. Pours bright gold color with slight haze with a big white head. Light lacing. Nose is pumpkin, nutmeg, and cloves. Medium body. Flavor is spicy and so is the finish. Some bitterness appears in the finish as well. Sort of like pumpkin pie. The flavors are a bit unusual but somehow hang to together to make a tasty and enjoyable brew.

Can courtesy of Theydon_Bois. Pours golden with a small white head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace on the glass. Smell is slightly sweet, tiny sour and heavy phenolic with sweet white bread, pears, dill baked steak, sour cherries, marzipan, pumpkins and hay. Taste is heavy sweet, tiny bitter and phenolic with sweet white bread, pears, caramelized orange peals, cloves, sheet metal, marzipan, hay, pumpkins and biscuits. Mouthfeel is sticky sweet, tiny round, slightly phenolic astringent and medium bodied. finish is sweet, bitter and phenolic with sweet bread, pears, orange peal, hay and black pepper corns. Not terrible but a mess…

Can at the "Colin and the Vikings tasting, Goteborg". Poured a hazy straw colour with thin white head and a few bubbles. The aroma is big yeast, rich malt alcohol. The flavour is strong bitter with a malt veggie light spice ligh pumpkin alcohol palate. Medium to full bodied with lively carbonation.

Bottle at the pretasting to Colin and the Vikings. Hazy golden beer with a decent offwhite head. Coriander aroma, pumpkin, biscuits, hay, fruity, caramel, yeasty notes. Pumpkin flavor, ginger bread, caramel, fruity, spicy, some alcohol. Decent beer but with a little too much pumpkin.

Can. 3/12/14. Pours cloudy gold with a thin but resilient white head. Aroma is vanilla, clove, nutmeg, pumpkin, Belgian yeast, spicy, banana. Smells really nice. Light, elevated. Taste is more aggressive than the aroma; pumpkin, vanilla, clove, banana, Belgian yeast, but also a grassiness, earthy, more of that Belgian yeast fruit esther quality; finish is pumpkin, earthy, bitter fruit flesh. Lacing is thin and segmented; pretty. Medium-high carbonation. Full mouth feel. Interesting, nice, tasty. But truthfully, I don’t know if this works as a pumpkin beer. The qualities imparted by the Belgian yeast seem strange, and not pleasant, for a pumpkin ale. Still, I order it in a bar.

Good retention and good lacing. Smells of pumpkin, spices and lemon citrus. Tastes of yeast, pumpkin and spices. Semi-bitterness finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
