3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz can poured into a pint glass. Pours cloudy golden orange with thin white head. Aroma is punchy caraway and a slightly sweet nutty flavor. Taste is thin light caramel malt with a somewhat abrasive earthy spicy finish. Notes of pumpkin spice, nutmeg, and clove. Not at all sweet, quite bitter on the finish. Can’t say I’d suspect this was a Tripel at all. The box, the can, the story - these guys are simply the best in the biz at packaging. Yet again.

can. Amber with one finger head. Sweet with pumpkin and belgian spicing. Sounds weirder than the end result, which actually worked quite nicely.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours light golden with a finger of white head. Aroma is light with sweet effervescent citrus character with hints of pineapple, clove, vanilla, and banana. Flavor is similar but with more of a doughiness overlaying the alcohol flavors. This is a nice and aggressive tripel.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Can. Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold body with a one finger fizzy white had that faded to a thin film. The nose is pretty interesting, a mix of pumpkin, fruity esters, herbal notes, light alcohol, and some light yeastiness. The flavor is more Tripel than it is a pumpkin beer, but the pumpkin is certainly there. I like that it’s a pumpkin beer that doesn’t include the usual nutmeg, cinnamon, or allspice. The herbal note is quite strong though, balancing the sweetness from the malt and working with the fruitiness really well. Well hidden alcohol. Medium bodied and a bit chewy with soft fizzy carbonation. Really a nice take on the Tripel style, which I typically don’t love all that much. Really enjoyable.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
To me this seemed more like a strong lager than a pumpkin tripel plus herbs (which is an interesting idea btw). There was some light molasses sweetness and wheat. The finish warms and tingles the palate nicely. Not bad, but I preferred the porter that this came packaged with.

Can thanks to Dmac. Pours a somewhat clear golden color with a small white head. Aroma is light pumpkin, fruity Belgian yest, some pumpkin/yeasty spicy fruit notes. Taste is complex, fruity yeast, mild pumpkin spices, pumpkin seed, and some mild sweetness. This is a very solid and unique pumpkin.

At Dorothy lane market. Pours foamy large head with a pale cloudy yellow color. Very mild spice taste for a triple. The spice lingers long after swallowing. Coriander cloves. I don't taste the pumpkin in the description.

12 ounce can
A chance to try a new Elysian beer without trading or traveling to the West Coast does not come along too often. When I noticed this during a shopping run I figured a single would not break the bank. While not the greatest Belgian tripel it was worth about the $2.99 that I paid. I would recommend not paying much more yourself.
Aroma / Appearance - A semitransparent golden base bubbles with the typical hue of a tripel made to style. Lively carbonation and sheets of short lived head add some character. Apple cider, nutmeg, and cinnamon float up from the glass like cotton candy dipped in pumpkin puree.
Flavor / Palate - Sticky sweet pumpkin accompanies caramel and cider. A dry warm transition leads to a mead like finish that unfolds a wave of booziness over the throat. This collaboration might work better with a different base. As a Belgian it just feels confusing as the earthy squash aspects do not meld with the dessert sweetness of the rest.

The lighter side of the He Said series, but not necessarily the better side. Sweet notes of Tripel spices and pumpkin gourd. Spicey finish with hints of apple malt. Pretty good.
