The story starts in 2010 when Dick Cantwell walked into our San Francisco pub. Weíd heard about his little pumpkin fest and wanted to get together to brew a pumpkin beer like no other: a Belgian-style Tripel brewed with pumpkin, galangal and terragon. In a dark colored can.

12 Fl. Oz. Can. Poured clear, golden with a nice white head and some lacing on the glass. Aroma of pumpkin and spice (nutmeg and cinnamon), some fruit in there too. Taste is a bit malty but also fruit, pumpkin and spices. Nice interesting beer, glad I picked a case.

Itís got everything you want in a Tripel, plus the pumpkin and spice hints work real well.

Santa Clara, Ca. - Santa Clara Liquors - 12 oz can. Slightly hazy medium golden pour, light off white head. Aroma of ginger and coriander. Flavor has some bubble gum notes, some Belgian candii sugar, a touch caramel sweetness. Mouthfeel has a decent crispness to it.

can. Amber with one finger head. Sweet with pumpkin and belgian spicing. Sounds weirder than the end result, which actually worked quite nicely.

Pours light golden with a finger of white head. Aroma is light with sweet effervescent citrus character with hints of pineapple, clove, vanilla, and banana. Flavor is similar but with more of a doughiness overlaying the alcohol flavors. This is a nice and aggressive tripel.

Can. Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold body with a one finger fizzy white had that faded to a thin film. The nose is pretty interesting, a mix of pumpkin, fruity esters, herbal notes, light alcohol, and some light yeastiness. The flavor is more Tripel than it is a pumpkin beer, but the pumpkin is certainly there. I like that itís a pumpkin beer that doesnít include the usual nutmeg, cinnamon, or allspice. The herbal note is quite strong though, balancing the sweetness from the malt and working with the fruitiness really well. Well hidden alcohol. Medium bodied and a bit chewy with soft fizzy carbonation. Really a nice take on the Tripel style, which I typically donít love all that much. Really enjoyable.

To me this seemed more like a strong lager than a pumpkin tripel plus herbs (which is an interesting idea btw). There was some light molasses sweetness and wheat. The finish warms and tingles the palate nicely. Not bad, but I preferred the porter that this came packaged with.

Can thanks to Dmac. Pours a somewhat clear golden color with a small white head. Aroma is light pumpkin, fruity Belgian yest, some pumpkin/yeasty spicy fruit notes. Taste is complex, fruity yeast, mild pumpkin spices, pumpkin seed, and some mild sweetness. This is a very solid and unique pumpkin.

At Dorothy lane market. Pours foamy large head with a pale cloudy yellow color. Very mild spice taste for a triple. The spice lingers long after swallowing. Coriander cloves. I don't taste the pumpkin in the deScription. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
