larsniclas (3383), Gothenburg, Sweden Feb 20, 2009 Draught at the brewpub
Hazy golden. Medium white head.
Not much aroma at all; some melon.
Fresh and crisp.
Low, dry bitterness.
Flavour from watermelon, but overall too thin and bland. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Feb 18, 2009 can. 5.2% abv
Pours hazy golden with thick white head.
Can has a few months aging.
The overall beer turned out to be quite a good surprise.
Aroma watermelon with faint notes of nutty/caramel malts
Taste, wheat and watermelon, possible light chocolate/caramel malts with a vanilla like touch and very faint bitterness in the finish.
Easy to drink, watermelon is there but not overpowering the beer.
WeeHeavySD (2941), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Feb 16, 2009 Can from Bevmo, I gotta say I was intrigued as I often am about fruit beers, especially the weird ones. Pours orangey with a bright white head. Nose has a touch of watermelon but otherwise dull. Taste is light and clearly has some watermelon flavor. The taste is really pretty hard to handle at first and then it evens out to provide a dull thud of watermelon. Worth trying, without a doubt. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Feb 15, 2009 On tap at the brewpub. Hazy yellow color with a small white head and a watermelon slice on the glass. Aroma is lots of watermelon. Flavor is wheaty with - you guessed it - watermelon. Pretty sour and almost cidery on the finish. Light on the palate, refreshing but a little off-balance in my opinion. JaBier (1130), Capital City, Ohio, USA Feb 13, 2009 12oz can shared with a friend who loves 21A. Not so sure about this one. Pours cloudy orange with a big white head. Malty raspberry aroma with some yeast. Berry flavor with watermelon, carrots and milk. Odd, but not bad. Was expecting watermelon bubbalicious, so it is at least better than that. puggy211 (576), cordova, Tennessee, USA Feb 8, 2009 Light straw colour. Cloudy. Aroma is faint, slightly wheaty. Crisp, wheaty with faint watermelon. Okee-dokee. An Am Wheat with subtle fruit. Which is pretty good in terms of construction but still nothing I’d drink regularly.
Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA Feb 1, 2009 Can. Body-thin straw/honey, wheaty, razor thin ring of bubbles. Nose-watermelon Jolly Ranchers, fruit orchard, subdued nose. Taste-watermelon, cantaloupe, unsweet watermelon Jolly Ranchers, watermelon rind, wheat, dandelion, good CO2 mouthfeel, not too bad. jkwalking05 (1483), Arlington, Texas, USA Jan 23, 2009 12oz. can thanks to bu11zeye. Light gold with a small white head. Aroma is of watermelon jolly rancher and light wheat and grains. Flavor is of wheat and watermelon.
