JohnC (2227), Mission Viejo, California, USA Jul 10, 2009 I had this on draft at 21st Amendment.
You really need to let this beer sit for a while before you get any of watermelon taste. Otherwise, it’s a fairly, clean,s imple beer. mrhoppy (209), Santa Clara, California, USA Jul 9, 2009 I had this beer at the brewery once and in cans twice. At the brewery it was phenomenal! it was so fresh and the real watermelon flavor really stood out. Perfect. But.... since then I have had it in cans. In the can it is terrible! Stale funky and barely any watermelon flavor. So I won’t buy this again unless I am at the brewery. kkearn (994), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 9, 2009 12oz can, from Capone’s (Norristown, PA). Pours a pale straw color, topped with a small white head. Aroma of wheat, straw, and hints of watermelon. Flavor begins with grain and wheat, and exhibits nice, natural watermelon flavor. Finish reminiscent of watermelon Jolly Rancher candy. Refreshing. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Jul 5, 2009 12 ounce can in tumbler. Pale hazy yellow orange with ring head. Tangy yeasty watermelon aroma. Thin watery sickly wheaty tangy watermelon flavor. Thin and gross. My cousin, who like wheat beers, almost spit it out. Gross. Cut it out. JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jul 5, 2009 Tap at Swift Hibernian Lounge. Hazy yellow pour with a thin head. Aroma is light but is loaded with watermelon character. A very light spicy wheatiness as well. A bit of faint huskiness. The palate is very light and thin. Although the watermelon does come through pretty nicely although the pale does seem very thin. The more I drink of it, the less I like it. italarican (157), Astoria, New York, USA Jul 5, 2009 Pours a slightly hazy straw yellow with standard white head. Subtle aroma of watermelon and some grains in the background. The flavor is basically what is advertised: tastes like fresh watermelon blended into a run-of-the-mill American wheat beer. No artificial taste, and the sweetness of the watermelon counters the beer perfectly. It’s a surprisingly smooth sip. I don’t know if this would work well with a wheat of more character, but all together, I’m pleasantly surprised. Perfect picnic beer. shawnm213 (882), South Bend, Indiana, USA Jul 4, 2009 Zathrus13 hooked me up with my first watermellon beer. Thanks! pours a hazy yellow with a white head. tasts like a watermellon, but not in a gross way. sweet for sure. jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Jul 4, 2009 Clear golden coloured body with an orange glow and a thin white head. Aroma of wheat, yeast, malt, metal and a bit of watermelons - not much. Light-bodied; Metallic wheatie flavour with some yeast and watermelon flavours coming through. Aftertaste has some fake wheat, watermelon and a bit of metal. Overall, not such a special beer - good for cutting the grass with but not much more than that - pretty watery. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from 21st Amendment Brewpub in San Francisco, California on 21-March-2009, sampled on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on the Fourth of July 2009.
