With the initial pour, it appears rather thin, colored a clear pale honey-yellow. Thick wisps of a wheaty haze fall as it sits, eventually clouding the entire brew and darkening the color to a more uniform honey-gold – though the thickness remains 0n the thin side. The carbonation is quick and sparkling, erupting as it hits the glass and building a nice 3-finger thick head of thin, lacy foam that sticks around for quite a while afterwards, falling into a gossamer ring and sheer patches as I sip it. While the bubbles seem hardy enough, they refuse to stick to the side of the glass, leaving no trace it was ever there. * * * The aroma is very light, carrying hints of watermelon and fresh-cut rind, minimal hops, faint grainy notes and some wheat malt, but none are heavy enough to make a lasting impression until the beer is near room-temperature. * * * Hell or High Watermelon holds a light body, dry mouthfeel, and moderate semi-spicy carbonation. The clean, crisp authentic watermelon flavor is immediately present at the forefront, and fades into a lighter, sweet melon tang while touches of grainy wheat and malt follow through to the end. The profile of this beer overall is very light, but that doesn’t keep it from being the perfect thirst quencher, especially when it’s 115º outside. As much as I disagree with the current stereotypes of women and (fruit) beer, I think that this could be an awesome first step into the craft beer world for both men and women who are still trying to become interested and want to ease themselves in.

Can. Pale yellow with thin white head. Aroma of wheat and a hint of watermelon. Medium/light body, watermelon, and some astringent drying characters with a wheat finish. Not bad but not great either.

On tap @ the brewery during San Francisco 7/7/14 beer tour. Pours a bit hazy yellow appearance with a white head. Served with a watermelon slice. Light cauliflower / stalky herbal, grassy aroma. Flavor is a bit on the sweet side. Some tartness asking with an artificial fruity flavor. Ehhh.

12oz can from Lowes Foods in Morehead City, N.C. Light straw colored pour, hazy clarity with mostly lasting white fizzy head. No lacing. Wheat aroma. Light wheat and watermelon up front with a light watermelon finish. Lively carbonation, wet on palate. Refreshing summer brew.

12 ounce can, served in a pint glass. Pretty boring wheat beer, little to no watermelon notes.

Presentation: It was served on tap and poured into a pint glass. The beer menu listed the abv at 4.9%. Appearance: The body has a hazy straw yellow color with light foamy head on top. It’s head fizzled out quickly. Smell: The aroma is fairly light overall. It brings some light wheat malt and white bready maltiness to the nose. It also has nice natural watermelon notes as well as and mild mineral like character. Taste / Palate: It’s lightly bodied and like it’s aroma it has light pale bready and wheat maltiness with a light sweetness and an equally balanced watermelon flavor. Again like it’s aroma it also has a slight mineral flavor note and just a very light herbal hop bitterness in the finish. Notes: This is definitely a hot summer day or lawn mower beer. It’s thin and light making it easy drinking and interesting. It like that the watermelon taste is natural and some candy like flavoring added to a light wheat beer.

Lots of watermelon, as described. This beer is light and airy. It highlights the watermelon without simply trying to force it into a pale ale. Pretty good.

Poured from a 12 oz can. Minimal head with a cloudy but beautiful light golden color. Fruit and melon are prevalent in the aroma and flavor. As it warms, some squash-like qualities come out. This is very much a fruit beer that is best ice cold on a hot summer day.

Can. A- Wheat, yeasty, slight funk. A- Yellow color, slightly hazy liquid, white head. T- Wheat, slight funk, slight bitterness, watermelon. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, astringent finish. O- This was a major let down. The watermelon (and granted watermelon doesn’t pack a lot of flavor itself) was not really there. It was more like the rind. A bitterness and not a good bitter either. This was really a bland wheat beer with a tad bit of funk and a very faint watermelon taste. I almost wish the flavoring would have been artificial so the melon would come through more and taste like more than the bitter rind. At least the can artwork is awesome!
