3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
With the initial pour, it appears rather thin, colored a clear pale honey-yellow. Thick wisps of a wheaty haze fall as it sits, eventually clouding the entire brew and darkening the color to a more uniform honey-gold – though the thickness remains 0n the thin side. The carbonation is quick and sparkling, erupting as it hits the glass and building a nice 3-finger thick head of thin, lacy foam that sticks around for quite a while afterwards, falling into a gossamer ring and sheer patches as I sip it. While the bubbles seem hardy enough, they refuse to stick to the side of the glass, leaving no trace it was ever there. * * *
The aroma is very light, carrying hints of watermelon and fresh-cut rind, minimal hops, faint grainy notes and some wheat malt, but none are heavy enough to make a lasting impression until the beer is near room-temperature. * * *
Hell or High Watermelon holds a light body, dry mouthfeel, and moderate semi-spicy carbonation. The clean, crisp authentic watermelon flavor is immediately present at the forefront, and fades into a lighter, sweet melon tang while touches of grainy wheat and malt follow through to the end. The profile of this beer overall is very light, but that doesn’t keep it from being the perfect thirst quencher, especially when it’s 115º outside. As much as I disagree with the current stereotypes of women and (fruit) beer, I think that this could be an awesome first step into the craft beer world for both men and women who are still trying to become interested and want to ease themselves in.

This is a very interesting take on a summer wheat beer. Smells like a pretty standard wheat beer on the nose but you get a ton of the melon in the taste. This type of beer 1 is good to try but not a 6 pack session type of summer beer which is the reason I would buy the style.

12 ounce can. Cloudy pale yellow gold color. Small bubbly white head. Lemony wheat malt nose has a hint of watermelon. Upfront flavor is pale wheat with more lemon and watermelon. Light and refreshing. Thin bodied and lightweight.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Smells like a nice wheat ale, without much of the watermelon. Very light golden color. Watermelon flavors come out at the front, with sort of an off aftertaste. The wheat ale flavor isn't too apparent up front, but you can tell in the back end that it's a wheat beer

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
For some fruit beer brewed at Cold Springs, this is incredible, which means it’s pretty darn good by any other standard. This is slightly cloudy orange golden in color w/ a short lived head but a good amount of lace. The watermelon in the nose is the prevalent aroma but it’s not all Jolly Rancher sweet, more of a rindy cucumber thing w/ a touch of a floral note. This comes off as a little sweet but that is mostly due to it having subdued bitterness and it brings out the more fruity aspects of the watermelon and a bit of wheaty malt. It’s full flavored but light bodied w/ vigorous but gentle carbonation. Fuck it, I didn’t want to like this stuff but it’s a good beer that transcends the novelty of adding watermelon.

1.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
This 12 oz can would be better served had I left it in the store. Pale yellow color, white head. Floral aroma, tastes like a melon. This is this, light body, not much carbonation and an astringent soapy finish.
Other than the artwork on the can, I can’t think of anything good to say.
Just not my beer.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a merky gold. Nose is rathe blah. Big melon taste on the front end, typical wheat finish. Good for what it is, nothing special. Would be well served at a summer party with watermelon to brave BMC kids looking to branch out for the first time.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
12oz can. Pours murky golden with a fizzy white head. Not overly carbonated. Aroma is of wheat, watermelon, and not much else. Taste is of watermelon. A lot of watermelon. Not artificial watermelon, either. There is also wheat. Not much else. Lingering juicy watermelon taste. Very light, but not watery. Aas it warms up, it starts to taste like a jolly rancher. Not horrible, but not something I’d want to revisit.

Can and served in nonic pint glass: Straw yellow with fizzy head. Grainy and DMS issues, weak watermelon on the watery palate. Meh... maybe when it is 90 out could I enjoy this... likely not.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hazy yellow pour with white head. Sweet citrus, wheat, watermelon aroma. Light malt body, more watermelon than I anticipated but not offensive. Decent combo, works together just not my favorite style. I had this about two years ago straight from the can, definitely better out of a glass on a warm day with a burger.

At Rockwells. I get it but it just isn’t my kind of thing. Was it made well for the type? Maybe but someone more into this would be the better judge. Serving: Tap
