Wulfstan (433), California, USA May 15, 2008 I had this on tap. It’s a nice, fully-flavoured IPA that has plenty of body and falvour to backup the bitterness. It is darkish gold with a medium off-wite head that lasts. It has a lot of hop aroma and taste, juicy with citrus and pine, but this is well-rounded. It has a nice, warming, lightly spicy alchoholic quality plus light caramelly and toast. Although the alcoholi s noticeable, it is smooth and warming, and I had no idea it was this high in ABV. Overall, the flavour and body are full and well-rounded, making one tasty, drinkable double IPA. beerguy101 (3424), Newark, California, USA Mar 29, 2008 Tasted on tap at the 2008 Bistro 2xIPA Fest. This IPA pours a medium gold color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is citrus and pine. A medium bodied Imperial IPA. The malts are caramel and fruity. The hops are piney and grapefruity. Nice carbonation. Good balance. Hide the alcohol very well. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. ratman197 (2190), Arvada, Colorado, USA Feb 14, 2008 On tap @ 21st Amendment poured a clear copper with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of carmel, earthiness, pine, orange peel and grapefruit. Palate was medium bodied smooth and dry. Flavors of carmel, grapefruit, light pine and a hint of orange with a smooth dry lingering bitter finish. bb (1978), Martinez, California, USA Feb 14, 2008 Draft. Rich amber beer with a nice off-white head. Nice summer fruit and citrus aroma. Summer fruit, grapefruit, pine flavor with a bit of earthiness and twigginess in the background. Medium body. Lingering grapefruit (a bit of rind) with other fruits and some dust. Overall alittle green and twiggy like many 3IPAs suffer from. goldtwins (3672), Nesconset, New York, USA Feb 12, 2008 Draft @ 21st Amendment. Poured a clear gold color with a good sized off-white head. Very big hop forward aroma. Great notes of citrus and pine. The flavor was big in the hops as well. Nice citrus notes that covers the malt. Medium body and warming but it hides the alcohol very well. Nice beer!
