3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Glouglouburp (5562) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 29, 2013
In short: A sweet and bitter blond IPA lacking a freshness character in its fruity hopping. Decent.
How: Can 12oz. Consumed relatively fresh a few months after canning date. Six cans delivered home by my man Jay.
The look: Partly cloudy blond body topped by a medium white head leaving lots of lacings on the glass.
In long: Nose is damped and musty fruity hops, smelling tropical fruits in a wet basement, some floral notes. Taste is very sweet upfront, crackery malt bill with notes of baguette and quite a bit of residual sugars. Plenty of crunchy dried fruits, some bananas, pineapple juice, grapefruit juice. Sharp bitterness level of medium intensity. A little alcohol bite at the end but nothing bothersome. Medium body with a very active carbonation. The beer is aged on oak but I didn’t pick up any wood, only mild notes of vanilla hinted on oak usage in this beer. However I thought that the hops in this fresh IIPA tasted a bit tired, as if the main contribution of the oak treatment was to prematurely aged the hops. All in all it is a decent beer event if drinkability is a bit low. I’m certainly glad the actual hop crisis of 4 years ago is mostly over, and if you ask me more beer can be the solution to just about any crisis (Euro crisis, global economy crisis, etc.), it sure worked for my midlife crisis.

Beautiful golden orange pour into a snifter from a can. Nice 2 inch head leaves a lot of lacing. Nose is perfect and nice on the palate. One of the ebst XXIPA I have ever had. Will buy again.

12 Fl. Oz. Can. Before a I start I’ll just say Nice..!!! Very nice beer, these guys are always putting these great beers out there. Anyhow, pours golden/orange, clear, nice big white head, tons of lacing. Aroma is not too strong, mostly citrus/grassy hops, some malts. Taste is hoppy, well balanced malty sweetness very citrusy. Overall very nice, I liked it a lot.

Can. Pours hazy amber with average, frothy white head; decent retention and lacing. Aroma is biscuit and cereal malts, lemon, pineapple, light grassy hops, and some toast. Flavor is grassy and citrus hops forward (medium bitterness) with supporting dry bready malts, light caramel, some light fruit esters, and some woody notes; dry, bitter finish. Medium body and low carbonation.

floral, citrus, and yeasty aroma..slightly cloudy yellow with slight amber, creamy off white head..bitter piney citrus flavor wins vs yeasty malt way in the back...medium bodied and softly carbonated dry bitter finish..overall a good but one sided imperial ipa that should be served ice cold..
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 badwhale (297) - Bitterville, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 25, 2013
Can to glass shaker. Pours a cloudy yellow with a white head that dissipates pretty quickly. Floral notes, and some citrus. Very bitter, grapefruit like hop flavor. Heavy-ish mouthfeel. Pretty tasty, but definitely very bitter. I dig it.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 spacemonster (20) - Igo, California, USA - MAR 14, 2013
Aroma; very little but some banana-like esters. A slight amount of pine-apple hop snap. Appearance is a very hazy piss-yellow orange. No head to speak of. Taste; A very dank and resinous hop character. Not bad though. In fact very agreeably tasty after a few plugs at it. Very unusual hop characteristics. I’m not used to the hop used here but I’m starting to like it as the glass full disappears. Palate; Very middle of the road. A fairly dry finish, the front end is very dry too An unusual IPA to be sure. Overall; A beer I’d try again.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 redlem (1264) - Ohio, USA - MAR 13, 2013
Well the 10% ABV is hidden nicely but this was average all the way. Subdued aroma and taste for an IIPA, I had to keep looking at my glass to make sure I was drinking this and not some other canned beer. Very average.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 jsmerig (798) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 12, 2013
Pours a light orange yellow. With minimal but foamy head. Aroma of a malty IPA. Syrup and orange citrus notes. The taste has bitterness throughout. The initial sweetness is rivaled but not equalled by a rugged bitterness. After the caramel sweetness of the malt fades a dry citrus bitterness remains. I could have this on tap at a bar
