The name is a tribute to the hop shortage a few years ago. A imperial IPA aged on oak using Columbus, Centennial and cascades as the bittering hops and dry hopping with Simcoe, Ahtanum, Amarillo, and Cascades.

On tap @ Chuck’s 85th. Pours bright golden with super thin head. Aroma is sweetness and a hint of hops. Taste is bold bitter hops with some grapefruit on the back. A bit of crystal malt, somewhat overshadowed by the dry oaky finish. Actually some nice wood notes there. Not bad, but I was much more impressed with this out of a can.

Smells good, tastes like goddamn light brown sugar. Very little complexity. Boring and sweet.

On draught at Bailey’s Taproom. Clear full golden color. Aroma is light tropical citrus, herbal tea, and caramel malt. Taste is guava, grapefruit, nectarine, oak, herbal tea, and caramel. Very smooth and non-bitter for such a big hop-forward beer.

4 oz draft part of a flight at 21st Amendment’s brewpub. Clear light golden yellow with off-white head. Aromas of caramel, citrus, tropical fruit, floral notes. Tastes of sweet malt, tropical fruit, citrus, caramel, floral hops. Medium body with a dry finish. Not bad.

Fruity nose explodes out the can backed up by woody notes. Pours deep (almost opaque) gold with a light bubbly head. Resiny, sticky mouthfeel with sharp bubbles. Balanced hoppiness with smooth bitterness and just the right lingering notes. Overall a very nice IPA from 21st. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Big aroma of the c hops. Flavor initially is very hop forward, piney and citrusy. Body is medium. Color is a clear gold, with a thin Whispy white head that dissipated quickly. Bitterness is assertive, but not overbearing. It has an almost honey like sweetness that counters the high ibus very nicely. The 9% is hardly noticeable, very sneaky. The finish is wet and sharply bitter, with a piney and herbal hop flavor. Overall very easy to drink flavorful and sneaky double ipa. I would be happy to reach for this again. Draft at wob cap hill.

From can. Sweet sticky nose, rubbery. Big hop aroma with fruity notes and a bit of oak. Rich golden-amber clear hazy with thin head. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Nice IPA, sweet with tropical fruity hops and sweet malty notes. Oaky with vanilla and honey. Bitter finish with smooth oaky hop after.

12oz can served in a pint glass. Very good canned IPA. Reasonably hoppy, not overly so.
