This was an amazing beer! I tried this one on draft at Ortino’s, and it delivered some awesomely delicious flavor and aroma. The beer poured a dark golden color with a thick and lacing off-white head. I got aromas of dry and spicy hops, earth, bread and lots of pine. The body was super-smooth. I could have sat there all night drinking just this one beer. The alcohol content was pretty well hidden, too. The flavors were amazingly delectible, with notes of pine, sweet but dry and spicy hops, earth, bread and a ton of citrus. The finish was a bit sweet, but also dry, spicy, hoppy and woody. This beer certainly has a dangerous side to it, but it’s amazingly good!

Sampled at the brewhouse (in a can). This is really a fantastic double IPA. The alcohol percentage is really high and you can kind of taste it. The flavor though is fantastic. Hops are sweet and crisp. Great brew.

Poured from can. Gold color with white head. Sweet caramel aroma with citrus aroma. Caramel malt flavor with citrus piney flavors. Some bitterness in finish.

I’ve had this one on tap and in the can. 12oz can review. This was one of the best Imperial Ipa’s i’ve had and yet in a can. The aromas aren’t in my face citrus and herbal aromas, however the palate transfer is huge. More of a tropical citrus as opposed to the lemon citrus i was expecting. Bracing hops finish, but very enjoyable just under 10 percent. Best 21st yet.

UPDATED: AUG 10, 2011 Draft pours hazy orange with a frothy beige head. Aroma of pineapple, grapefruit, lemon and herb. Taste is very nice, lots of citrus, more resin and pine, good caramel balance. Medium body, soft carbonation.......Drinking another one now, damn this shit is good, lots pf pineapple, coconut and wood, some skunky bud dankness too. At 9.7, this is incredibly dangerous.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 koshea (13) - San Francisco, California, USA - FEB 19, 2010
Poured on tap at 21A as part of strong beer month
It was a transparent amber color, With a big off white head and some retention. The aroma was chocked full of big resiny, piny hops, with just a hint of honey from the malt. The first thing I taste is the hops, but what DIPA would it be if that were untrue? But here there is lots of hops in all there resiny goodness, there’s just a hint of honey sweetness from the malt. It’s the right balance complementing the hops and not struggling for control of the flavor. There is a great balance for such a strong hoppy monster. It’s nicely carbonated and goes down my gullet smoothly. Considering ABV this beer is dangerously drinkable and a great DIPA

Can: Awesome aroma of pineapple, grapefruit, and thistle. Clear amber, thick yellow head, little retention, lacing is good. Full body. Thistle and honey flavor. Not very dynamic, but wow, what a delicious beer!

Had it on draft at Fireworks in Leesburg, VA. I am going to be hunted down and shot for this......I prefer this over Hopslam. Better balance, more depth, more overall complexity, and a brighter finish. So very easy to drink, and in possession of a special property which makes you drink it. There is this sweet/soft/woody note as it hits the front of your mouth that explodes for a split second and dissipates just as quickly. Then you are hit with all the different layers of hops. Some spicy and earthy, others tingly and piney. Then there is a malt bomb which goes off in the middle of your mouth which gives way to a cleansing bitterness on the finish. As soon as you swallow, it is all over with out a resiny sticky, clinging bitterness like some DIPAs, but you feel refreshed....and want another sip. The nearly 10%abv is so well hidden you can easily get yourself in trouble. No heat or phenolic boozyness. Just AMAZING beer. I have to wonder if it will ever show up in cans........

Draught at the brewpub. Orange with a medium white head that leaves some lace. Super green, floral, dank, piney hop aroma. Tons of juicy citrus flavor. Grapefruit is in full effect with some peach thrown in for good measure. Very bright, fruity, and oily. Malt is minimal and plays a clean counter to all that hop flavor. Bitterness is there, but very smooth and not at all harsh. Medium-full body but not really heavy, and lighter than you would expect. Stupidly drinkable for this strong and hoppy of a beer, and much more balanced than Double Trouble. Just killer stuff, and very similar to Younger.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Aubrey (3191) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - JUN 24, 2011
After my first whiff and first sip, I was instantly hooked. This is one delicious beer. Clear and bright golden with a bubblicious head. Just the nose alone was enough to make my mouth water. Rich malt flavors had lots of caramel and Hawaiian bread. Super bold hop flavors and aromas (bright pine and citrus), but bitterness was very smooth and balanced. Alcohol’s hidden tremendously well ... dangerously well, actually. Super delicious beer.
