3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a rich mahogany color with an aroma of fig, raisin, and toffee. Complex flavor with fig, raisin, caramel, and touch of toffee. Somewhat dry with a body that is thinner than many barley wines. Nice beer!

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Reviewed from notes.
The appearance had a somewhat hazy caramel brown color, the head was a thin half finger-ed white, no lacing.
The smell had caramelized malts with a subdued happiness but has a certain dryness about it.
The taste was sweet all the way through with some added brown sugar and dark fruits, no aftertaste, quick dry finish.
On the palate, it sat at/about a medium on the body. It seems like it wants to show a decent sessionable quality to it but it still has that ABV that hides itself well enough to not show its face, there seems to be a dryness coating my mouth and tongue.
Overall, hmmm. .. decent enough American Barley wine that tried to keep the hops in it, I can tell they’re there but there’s a slight "dead" quality to it, no worries, I realize the date it was made and the date I’m having it, so nothing to worry about, this is just something I have to come back to fresher.

Pours a cloudy copper color. A foamy head relaxes into a bubbly lace. The nose is of candied fruit. Taste is hoppy and crisp with a sweet dry finish.

On tap at Grumpy’s NE pours a dark clear copper/brown with a small khaki head. Aroma of caramel and toffee malts with alcohol. Malt forward taste caramel and toffee, raisin, dates, hint of hops, and a hit of alcohol, overall sweet. Not bad, simple drinkable for the abv.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
My Bottom Line:
This classic Barley Wine is the setting for fruity caramel malts, resinous hops and alcohol heat, all equally thriving in a rich mouthfeel.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the amber haze.
-The hop bitterness is just important enough to balance out the hefty residual sugars.
-This is not unlike Old Foghorn or many other first generation American Barley Wines.
-I’m a bit worried about how this will age in its tiny can...

M- Thick with medium carbonation.
D- A decent brew but nothing to write home about. I wouldn’t repeat.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Boom, indeed. Forget the little cute can it comes in, this one hits full on from the get-go with alcohol burn. Aroma and taste give away to high ABV, faint malt backbone lies somewhere in the mix, but an overall smooth and slightly sweet experience. Nice!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a dark translucent orange. Average carbonation; light head and lacing. Aromas of hops, sugar, and pine. A hoppy taste, figs and sugar at the outset, followed by bitter notes and alcohol. Malts add some sweet complexity to the mix. A very nice barleywine ale.
