COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep, mahogany color, rich malt candied, rock sugar flavors with sweet burnt currant and fig aromas. It’s strong alcohol content is tempered by a clean bitterness and complex flavors. This Barley Wine is named for Cornelius de Boom, the San Francisco Belgian Consulate General (1850 to 1851) and surprisingly the name of the alley along-side the 21st Amendment on 2nd Street.–

[ Trade by Papsoe ]. Clear medium to dark borwn - orange amber colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white silver head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, sweet malt, alcohol, moderate hoppy, flower, grass, orange - citrus. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, sugary malt, caramel, dried fruit, alcohol. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20130424]

From tap at the brewpub. Pours cloudy dark orange with a small off-white head. Aroma is wooden dry hops with a dry caramelish malt note. Bitter and dry hoppy to a solid caramel malty base. Bitter and dry finish.

Can. Pours a slightly hazy pale amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty weak woody spicy caramel and dark fruit aroma. Sweetish malty spicy caramel and dark fruit flavor. Has a sweetish malty spicy dark fruit and caramel finish with hoppy hints.

Room 316 Tulip Hotel tasting with Ian and Colin. Clear amber beer with a good pale cream colourer head. Palate is soft and a little dry. Dry caramel malt, little lactose. Alcohol spice. Mild dried fruits. Finishes dry. Very dull and disappointing. Expect better from these guys.

Can from a trade. Pours clear red amber with a small, staying, creamy, off-white head. Aroma has red berries, vinious, caramel, light raisin. Medium carbonation, fine dry and quite creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has caramel, light toasted, vinious, port, citrus, piney. Lingering bitter and warming finish.
