Aroma is mainly hops, with a bit of sugar lurking behind it. Pours a cloudy reddish-amber, with just a dusting of light tan head. The flavor has hops, but is sweeter then most of the American Barley Wines that Iíve had. This has a much larger malt backbone then Iím used to. The alcohol is really well hidden, with just a slight heat after a big gulp. The flavor complexity is there, and this is an enjoyable beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Energy drink can poured. Pours a burnt orange color with little head. Gotta love a beer that can easily be passed as a normal beverage enjoyed while driving home. Iím kidding. But seriously. No, Iím kidding. Or am I? I am. What Iím trying to say is, I love the can. Original, which is great. Sweet, malty aroma. Sweet flavor overall, with some candy malt and sugary caramel. Lingering sweet flavor. Smooth considering the alcohol. Overall a good barley wine. Enjoyed this.

8.4oz energy drink size can. Stored in my cellar for a year. Opaque copper brown with creamy tan head. Aroma like a plate of sweet spiced cookies and a hint of booze. Taste is initially hop bitter (even after a year), sticky toffee, alcohol, rum soaked raisins, warming alcohol, and tropical hop finish. I like a good barleywine and this is a good barleywine.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Can @ home. Copper pour with a small khaki head. Juicy pineapple, grapefruit, and some piney hops. A little bit of booze and some herbal notes. Peach juice, too. Pretty heavy caramel and brown sugar as well. Flavor is just super sweet and caramel heavy. Lots of toffee and pineapple juice. Kind of bitter and boozy finish.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Amber colour with a rocky dark white fading head and slow viscousity. Aromas of ripe fruits, like mango, banana and faint red currant develop with notes of figs and caramel malts. Soft carbonation with a slick-smooth texture and a fully body. Flavours of fruity sweetness develops encompassed by a solid malt structure yet leaving enough room for a well pointed hop bitterness inducing the quest for another sip. Long lasting very harmonic finish offering an interplay between sweet and bitter. Very good!

Pitcher at GABBF: Poured a murky copper brown with a tan head. Aroma was dark fruits and malts. Taste was sweet fermented fruit, very hidden alcohol, and malty backbone.

Can (courtesy of AirForceHops). Apricot, fig, and caramelized sugar malt aroma. Hazy amber with small head. Very sweet dried fruit (apricots, raisins, figs) and caramel malt flavor. Nice body. Very tasty - hides its strength well.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can, 8.4oz, canned 11/7/13. Pours a flat, murky reddish brown color with a thin ring of tan head. A sweet smell of faded citrus hops and caramel malt. Taste is again sweet; candied sugar, bready malt, caramel, and faded citrus hops. Still plenty of abv to be a winter warmer. There are enough lingering bitters to cover the sweetness, but Iíd still like to try this fresh. Nice serving size, Iíd rather buy a big beer in this size than a bomber any day of the week.

Brown pour with a thin white head. Candied fruit, fig, fairly prominent hopping in both the aroma and taste. Some alcohol warming. Medium body. Would like to revisit this with some age on it.
