Way too low IBUs for this style. Alcohol is 9.1% by the way (verified tonight, in person). It wasn't bad, but locally, both Magnolia's and Anchor Steam's are far better.

A lot of resin and booze but this isn’t super enjoyable. Some caramel and hops. Pours cloudy orange with good head and lacing. Finishes a little sweet with some wooden bitterness. Can.

6 july 2014, can. Rosy orange, faintly hazy, some bubbles. Nose is serious grapefruit citrus, moderate alcohol and some rich raisin malt. Med body and fizzy. Bitter grapefruit but big alcohol really cuts the bite. Burnt caramel, sugary, raisins, sweet alcohol, hints of pine. Really good!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Smells like honey and toffee, some hops, barley. Taste is sweet, rich, but balanced by a sharp hoppy bite. Almost like a strong imperial IPA, but really a quite nice barley wine.

Great nose a lot of oak smells. High alcohol % is not evident and the flavors really stand up. Great beer!

Can - Earthy orange hops, toffee and sweet raisin. Clearish copper with almost no head. Nice sweet caramel with a bit of bitterness and a bit of alcohol burn in the finish. Aftertaste is a bit of burnt orange and bitterness. If the finish had been a little less harsh this would have been perfect.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
This one confuses me a bit. I don't have a lot of experience with the style, but I've enjoyed others because of the hoppy profile. This has a pleasant malty, toffee-esque taste; but it so differs so far from what I've had before(either the others are off, or this is).

Tiny Red Bull sized can. Pours clear medium brown with a touch of orange - white head. Raisins, figs, mineral, molasses on the nose. Caramel malt, molasses, earth, mineral on the tongue as well. Some oak and bitterness to the finish.

Poured into stemware from can. Just a little bit of head and bold color. Great balance of tastes and alcohol. I enjoy this amount of bitterness even if it takes from some of the traditional sweetness

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
From an 8.4 oz can.
Pours a deep copper-orange, with enough head to rouse it a bit. Cloudy with so much carbonation it looks like sediment.
The nose is candi sugars, cherry, metallic like a battery. Chlorine hop with a bready yeast. Dried, wrinkled stone fruits.
The flavor is grainy, with a heavy, sugary barley base. The hops are a bittering accent. Slight medicinal cherry with a hint of sourness. The dark molasses in the malts are very potent.
Texture is thick and chalky, with a smoothness on the outer edges. This thing is grossly overpriced ($13 for four 8.4oz bangers). I love the idea of small cans for an 11%+ beer, but they have to drop the price for chrissakes. This is getting ridiculous.

(8.4oz can) clearish orange, fine edge tan bubbles. Nose of cardboard, sweet citrus, honey, little oxidized despite being fridge aged and in a can. Taste of honey, aged bitter hops, caramel, candied citrus. Thin body, lightly dry finish.
