2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
A- pours a rich copper brown with a thin off white skin for a head that quickly dissipates. Virtually no lacing. S- strong alcohol, banana esters, dried fruit, toffee, malts, bread pudding, bitter pine resin, and ammonia. Not very appealing. M- medium sharp and sticky body with a heavily sweet palate. T- more alcohol, cleaning products, unripe apples, and grasses in the beginning. Mid palate is banana, pine needles, some licorice. Ending is uncomfortably bitter malts, some dried fruits and more stinging alcohol.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Cool little 8 oz can deceptively marketed. Pours a nice brown with a sheet of light tan foam. Smells of malts, some soap, some floral hops and a touch of sugar - nothing special. Flavor is sweet and fruity with lots of esters, hints of bubble gum and banana with a really English yeast flavor. Overly sweet for me. Medium bodied with low carb and a slightly sticky finish. I was hoping this would be really good so I could buy a good bunch for the cellar, but alas, not the truth.

Very strong and a bit harsh. Has a nice pine aroma but the flavor is more bitter citrus. Warm on the throat. Made for sipping.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: DEC 1, 2013 Can: thanks, Jeff! Somewhat muddled, copper-amber body with barely any head, just a thin, beige collar. Aroma is full of some sticky dark fruits, sweet grapes, raisins, with a backing of toffee & light brown sugar. Black licorice in the tail end, with a sharp, boozy acetone note that comes off as kind of "stale" in a weird way. Taste is full of warming alcohol, sticky sweet prunes, raisins, caramel, green apples, & toffee. Pretty alcohol heavy, especially as it warms... Kind of in an acetone/solvent way. Hot, sticky, sweet, boozy. Decent at best. I like the idea of a barleywine in a small can, but this doesn’t exactly deliver.

Can: The aroma consists of moderate-heavy caramel, light toffee, and a touch of fruit. It pours a hazy brownish-orange with a small beige head that quickly fades to a very thin ring. The flavor starts with moderate-heavy caramel with light toffee. The finish has light-moderate grapefruit, citrus, and some mild toasty notes. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation and

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Room 316 tasting at the Tulip, Bodegraven, 27/09/13 note the dutch sounding name! Barley Wine in a can - I ask you ?!?
Lightly hazed golden amber with a thin off white head.
Nose is bitter fruits, orange, dark toffee, light booze, grain.
Taste comprises bready malts, dark fruit, sugars, toffee, boozey do.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, boozey heat in the finish.
This was a real let down, no depth one trick pony with boozey heat all over, pretty much bottom of the barley wine class!

Room 316 Tulip Hotel tasting with Ian and Colin. Clear amber beer with a good pale cream colourer head. Palate is soft and a little dry. Dry caramel malt, little lactose. Alcohol spice. Mild dried fruits. Finishes dry. Very dull and disappointing. Expect better from these guys.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from 8.4 fl oz can. Pale amber colour with minimal off-white head. Dark fruit and malt aroma with a definitive hoppy nuance. Starts off with a sweet dark fruity malt flavour, but is quickly overpowered by a bitter hop taste. Dry finish. Wouldn’t classify it as a Barley Wine, it deserves a new category - as it says on the can, it is an "American Style Barley Wine".
