Can, 8.3%. Malty aroma, sweet dark malts, some dried fruits. Cloudy, muddy dark red brown colour. Small tan head. The flavour starts off quite sweet and malty. Not sugary as such, but a bit sweet. OK balanced by a roasted maltiness and some warming alcohol. Dried fruits in the flavour as well, along with a bit of yeast in the finish. There is also a tart fruit note in the finish, almost like a good kriek, albeit much more subtle. Tastes Belgian, and better than many original Belgian beers.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 fiulijn (12360) - Malmö, DENMARK - JAN 11, 2013
Can from Elizabeth Station, Bellingham, WA Dark amber to brown color, hazy, with small fizzy head, not persistent. There is a mild aroma of sweet candi caramel and some Ale yeast and relative fruity touch. Correct body strength; caramel flavor, candi sugar, lean mouthfeel, moderate sweetness; there is an unfortunate impression of sweet liquorice and vegetables; it has relatively low bitterness. Once again, an American/Belgian boring-ish beer.
