My first shot at the 21st Amendment Brewery.
A pretty good Belgian style ale. Flavors are little drier than what might be expected with some a hint of tart in the finish. Still contains notes of dark fruits and has a substantial yeast aroma.

Can. Pours a reddish brown. Aroma with cinnamon and chocolate malt. Boozy alcohol with a little sweet flavor and dried fruit. Enjoyable beer. I am definitely a fan.

Macon, Ga. - The Rookery - poured from a 12 oz can. Dark amber pour, off-white head, good lacing. Sweet, candy-like aroma, hints of cotton candy, hard to describe, pleasant. Flavor is slightly boozy with some candi sugar notes, a hint of black licorice, some cotton candy sweetness and finishes with some sweet cherry notes. Overall kind of "hot". Slick mouthfeel, needs a bit of refinement.

Poured from a 12oz can into a pint glass. The beer pours a dark brown with a res tint. It smells lightly of cinnamon with a chocolately malt backbone. It does taste a little boozey, but that is mostly masked by the spices the beer is brewed with. It tastes pretty much exactly like it smells, and has a long lasting spicy aftertaste. Although I am drinking this in june, I believe I would enjoy it more in colder weather.

Good beer, a little hot for the abv, but quaffable nonetheless. Not too much on the nose, candi sugar and toffee but only fleeting notes. Taste doesn’t quite live up to the promise of the adjuncts; there’s a remarkable number of ingredients in this beer, yet mainly I’m getting what tastes to be a solid American Dubbel. Starts dry, but quickly gains a deep, boozy Belgian slant, hints of vanilla poking through. Starts to get sticky as it warms, but the oak equalizes the sugariness, to a point. Make sure you try to read the goddamn novel on the can before you finish the beer. That font is a bitch.

Pours dark brown with red highlights. Small butt long lastnig, fine dark tan head. Aroma of candi sugar, caramel, spice, prunes and raisins. Flavour is strong alcohol with prune and raisin notes, some dark caramel, quite sweet but finish is balanced by alcohol notes. Lingers with some bitterness and alcohol heat. Quite good, aroma promises a richer flavour than is present. Could use less hot alcohols

On tap at Gilly's Craft Beer & Fine Wine. Translucent to opaque dark brown with about a 2-finger tan head that gradually settle to a fine, creamy film and excellent lacing. Aroma of toffee, raisins, plum, figs, caramel and sweet dark malt. Taste of figs, toffee, raisins and plum, caramel, vanilla and molasses. from the can: Legend has it that in the evenings, the monks would retire to their chambers & settle in with a few passages from the Good Book. But Brothers Nicolas and O’Sullivan had other plans. Working in the brewhouse all day, they were forced to repeat the same old recipes the elder monks had invented years before. They needed a little diversion. And found it in the cellar of the monastery with a fresh twist they put on the beer and the way they enjoyed it. Brother Nicolas (or ’Nico’ to his close friend) brought some hand-rolled cigars. O’Sullivan, the outspoken one, broke the vow of silence by spinning a remix of some Gregorian chants. Together, they’d throw down a couple nice hands of Texas Hold ’Em and savor the handcrafted brew they created in secrecy. Everyday was good. Or so it seemed. But deep in his heart, Nico knew they were drifting into the ‘dark side’ of beer. Next thing you know, they’d be skipping Lent. Then one night they’d face the Judgment for their actions with a hard knock at the door. Outside, the Abbot and elders would be holding stones in the air. A threat the brothers were sure would lead to the spilling of: Monk’s Blood.

12 oz can. Pours deep amber with a small creamy light tan head. Aroma is kinda bland, a bit gummy, some dark fruits, banana, some sweet bread. Flavor has a bit more of the dark fruit, cherry, some vanilla, banana, some spiciness. The fruit comes more in the finish with a lingering vanilla note. Medium body and prickly carbonation. Interesting beer, not sure how I feel about it.

Purchased as a four pack of cans at the Sewickley Giant Eagle near Pittsburgh. Perfect on the pour with a nice big aromatic head of goodness. Chewy and exotic on the first mouthing, with plenty of surprises for the discriminating drinker. Each tasting was a bit different for me. Read the can if you will for an interesting aside.

Pours a hazy reddish-brown color with a medium beige head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt, yeast and dark fruit. Medium body with a dark malty character and notes of yeast, spices, cherry and raisins. The finish is fruity with a hint of malt left behind. Above average all around.
