3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BroSpud (1177) - , Massachusetts, USA - FEB 18, 2012
On tap at the brewpub. Not sure if this is the same pale ale I had at the brewpub based on all the low ratings I see here. The one I had was closer to an IPA in taste and character and was an overall great beer.

Draft at brewpub: once again, very similar structure to the IPA. Typical PNW hop notes, caramel, medium to light body, quite drinkable. Solid.

Bottle pours a slightly hazy amber. Some bitter malt aroma. Some woody malt flavor but not good bitterness. Just not good.

Floral hop nose, pale amber color, clingy head. Light toasted malt body, late arriving but full hop taste with a high resolution bitter. Good hop flavor.

Flavor is some floral cascade hops and a bit of malt. Much like SNPA, but with some more caramel. Even balance between cascade hops and malt. A little dull, doesn’t excite and it’s nothing new. Makes me feel tired of cascades. I’d like to see more originality.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 SDbruboy (1864) - San Diego, California, USA - OCT 29, 2006
On draft at brewpub. Slightly hazed medium amber with a small off-white head. Pleasant aroma, leading with floral and citrus hops, balanced by toasty malts. Stongly bitter flavor, again citrus hops leading and a bit out of balance with the thin malt backbone, lemon zest in the finish leaving an astringent, drying sensation in the mouth. Medium body and crispy carbonation.
