womencantsail (3927) - Home of Rebecca Black, California, USA - DEC 1, 2010
A: The pour is a dark brown color with reddish hints and a tan head. S: This beer reeks of roasted malt, smoke, ash, and more roasted (burnt) malts for good measure. A bit of a burnt, over-roasted coffee thing, too. T: As bad as the nose was, it got worse. This one tastes like an ashtray. Burnt malts, ash, spent cigarettes, and some subtle coffee and chocolate flavors. M: The body is medium and so is the level of carbonation. D: Another awful beer from 21A. Just nothing really nice to say about this one.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a thin tan head and a mocha aroma. There is a robust chocolate and treacle flavor with a dry slightly bitter finish.

On tap at 21st Amendment. Good appearance on this one - clear dark brown with a two-finger khaki head sitting on top. Nice roasty aroma, slightly charcoaly with dark chocolate notes and hops evident. The flavor is also very roasty with dark chocolate. The only drawback is a very slight plasticky flavor. A little thin on the palate, although it has a good ashy dryness to it. Overall a good but not great porter.

Black with a creamy light brown head. Nice roasted grain chocolate and bready aroma and taste with a hint of coffee to the finish. Velvetty palate.
