COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You might not expect a Saison in winter. But the enemy didn’t expect Washington to cross the icy Delaware, either. Expectations be damned, we say. We’re sneaking up on winter with a boatload of bravado and this Belgian-style farmhouse ale. Dry hopped with whole organic cardamom pods, our Saison has an assertive spiciness. In your face, winter.

Clear golden color, medium white head. Aroma has lots of spice. Taste is spiced straw, fruit. I think the spice is trying to substitute for the saison character.

Tin. Hazy orange with thin white head. Aroma is spicy, lots of cardamom, some pepper in the aroma. Very full of cardamom, flavour seems little else. Back of the tongue finish

Hazy gold with a white head. Aroma is sweet, light earthy spice, yeast, a bit vegetal. Medium body. Flavor has nice spice, yeast, earth, light veggies. It's a decent saison.

Can from GE Express. Pours hazy golden yellow with quickly dissipating, fizzy white head. Kind of funky nose with coriander, thyme and grass, some other spices. Bread and crackers with a tart, earthy undertone throughout and well into the after. Herbal and dirty hops linger throughout. Nice little, earthy saison

Can. Gold body with a medium, foamy white head. Strong spicy notes, yeast, grains and straw in the nose. Dried fruit, straw, dusty yeast, grains and spices make up the bulk of the flavor profile.Body is light-medium with a strong, effervescent carbonation. Ends with more spices, dusty yeast, earthy notes, straw, dried fruit and floral notes.

Pours a cloudy bright lemon rind yellow with one finger of bright white head. Very herbal nose, lots of lemongrass and oregano/thyme and some earthy and yeasty notes. A touch of raw bread dough and spice. Most of this carries over to the flavor. Herb/spice dominates the flavor with a light estery sweetness showing at points. Light medium body with a very dry and spicy finish.

Can. This beer pours an ever so slightly hazy light gold with half a finger of white fizz and aromas of esters and slight funk. Kind of a spicy edge with a hint of barn. Flavor is less engaging though. It has a decent funk and spiciness to it, but it gets washed out by an almost cloying honey presence. The first split second of a sip is very interesting... Kind of peppery with a little barn and such, but then there is a tidal wave of honey and dough that buries most of the intrigue in a hit you over the head with a boring plot way.

12 oz. can- Pours hazy golden with a thin soapy white head that reduces almost immediately to a collar and a very thin blanket. Aroma is coriander, some banana, bubblegum. The taste is similar to the aroma with a mild dryness after the swallow, they rely too much on the spices, and not enough of that full yeasty taste that saison’s have. Not sure what cardamom pods taste like, maybe that is the coriander I taste, not sure. Personally I would have preferred ample amounts of pepper over these spices. Body is a little thin, but I guess not for the style, carbonation is medium soft. Overall I was unimpressed, I have higher expectations from 21st Amendment, they can make good beers, but a few beers I think they experimented with the spices should have been either dialed back or just not put in at all.

12oz can from Triangle Wine, Morrisville. Deep golden pour with orange tints, fluffy carbonation. Dry hops, yeast, and prominent cardamom in the nose. Palate is light and vaguely spicy. Generic saison character, I suppose, with the cardamom a bit too assertive for me. But herbal and peppery are qualities I enjoy so it still managed to be reasonably enjoyable.

I love the cardamom smell, even if the taste doesn’t convey. Definitely a summer beer!
