You might not expect a Saison in winter. But the enemy didn’t expect Washington to cross the icy Delaware, either. Expectations be damned, we say. We’re sneaking up on winter with a boatload of bravado and this Belgian-style farmhouse ale. Dry hopped with whole organic cardamom pods, our Saison has an assertive spiciness. In your face, winter.

Pours yellow gold with a large white head. Aroma of pepper spice and grass taste is the same. Thin body and not much else.

12oz can. Pours a light yellow with a white head that evaporates quickly. A bit on the thin side and also kind of bland. OK for the style but I expected better from 21A.

Pours straw with a finger of soapy head. Nose is Belgian yeast, spicy, white pepper. Starts off lemony, yeasty, then becomes a bit spicy and quite bitter and dry. Lemon candies off the top is strange, and I don't really care for the finish. Also could use more carbonation. Not great.

~Lemongrass aroma with coriander, wheat and white pepper. ~Pours a bright golden color, hazy tubidity with lasting bubbly white head. ~Lemony flavor, slight bitter lemon peel, coriander with peppery spiciness. ~Light to medium bodied with high CO2, lingering lemony and bitter finish. Refreshing. ~Fantastic. Just what I needed. This a beer that is great for any occasion. Very tasty and enjoyable to drink.

Pours a nice bright light orange, though head dissipates quickly. (I guess not bottle-conditioned?) Aroma is assertive and nice pepper, cardamom obviously, lemon peel, grains of paradise? Body however is a little thin, and tastes over-spiced, one dimensional. Finishes dry. Not bad, but just an average saison IMHO.

12 oz can poured. Pours a clear golden yellow color with a big cloudy foam head. Great can artwork by the way. Lemon, and grassy aroma. Flavor stays true to that as well. Minimum spices flavor all throughout. Creamy body to it. Interesting beer. Definitely not your typical saison. Not bad.

Grassy, barnyardy, wet grass and some sweet spicy hoppiness. Tons of Belgian yeast and sweetness. This is whats awesome about a Saison. Tons of funkiness, sourness and sweet malt. It’s awesome, I could drink this all day!

Solid saison aroma. Dank, horse blanket. A bit cloudy with white head. Great saison out of the can

Nice Belgian banana nutty aroma. Taste is lighter than I thought it would be. Slightly watery palate. Bit is spiciness comes through and come orange peel/citrus but finishes very bitter and dry from the hops. Not a big fan of the finish, but an ok beer otherwise. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is typical of a farmhouse saison, heavy wheat and fruity notes. You can taste the cardamom on the first taste, along with the bready yeast typical of a saison. It lingers nicely on the palate, it sneaks up on you, like the name states.
