3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz can poured. Pours a clear golden yellow color with a big cloudy foam head. Great can artwork by the way. Lemon, and grassy aroma. Flavor stays true to that as well. Minimum spices flavor all throughout. Creamy body to it. Interesting beer. Definitely not your typical saison. Not bad.

Grassy, barnyardy, wet grass and some sweet spicy hoppiness. Tons of Belgian yeast and sweetness. This is whats awesome about a Saison. Tons of funkiness, sourness and sweet malt. It’s awesome, I could drink this all day!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice Belgian banana nutty aroma. Taste is lighter than I thought it would be. Slightly watery palate. Bit is spiciness comes through and come orange peel/citrus but finishes very bitter and dry from the hops. Not a big fan of the finish, but an ok beer otherwise.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma is typical of a farmhouse saison, heavy wheat and fruity notes. You can taste the cardamom on the first taste, along with the bready yeast typical of a saison. It lingers nicely on the palate, it sneaks up on you, like the name states.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bright yellow color, half finger of frosty head. Medium carbonation. Has the body of a cider, but lighter.
Aroma is grains of paradise. Lemon zest and orange peel. Really hovers over the glass; completely effervescent.
Flavor is more prickly spices, with almost a mint-leaf complexion. The citrus rind is still there. Has a funk in the aftertaste that is musty, in a good way. Touch of bubblegum. A wintry candi-sugar component as well; adds a needed heft. The alcohol has an ever-so-slight burn, but it’s very slight.
It’s prickly on the tongue, and then slick on the back end. It’s not a flavor bomb, but it’s pleasant enough.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap @ 21A. Hazed golden pour with white foam. Aromas of bubblegum, lemon, pepper, and sage. A very herbal aroma. Sort of grassy as well. The flavor is super zesty and herbal. Tons of lemon, pepper, and sage. Slight grass and rosemary. Really heavy on the cardamom. Quite dry and seltzery. Meh.

Julie makes weird clicking sound and face. She does not like malt and floral combination does not work for her

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can from the Last Drop.
Cloudy yellow pour with white head. Cardemom is really heavy in the aroma, to the extent that this comes off as some sort of Christmas ale when one first encounters it. Nonetheless the flavor is quite nice. Pretty dry, just a notch sour, relatively hoppy close, simple and not funky but otherwise just what I’d want an American saison to be. Quaffable, acceptable ABV instead of the usual 8+% we get in local saisons. But that spice! It’s not as prominent in the flavor as in the aroma, but it’s stronger than I’d chose and confers this gingerbread thing that feels out of place. That’s too bad, because this one otherwise comes close to the canned American saison I need for stocking my fridge.
tl;dr summary: Close but too much cardemom

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20

Poured from can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a very hazy straw yellow-golden color with a one finger pure white head. The head fades relatively quickly leaving a persistent white foam on the top of the brew with almost no lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is of a wheat and lemon smell with a large amount of a funky yeast smell. With the funky yeast comes a grassy and herbal smell. Along with these smells is a good dose of spice being largely of cardamom and some clove.
Taste – The taste begins with a more smooth bready and cracker taste mixed with a lemongrass taste. The flavors have a bit of lemonade sweetness upfront, but these sweeter tastes are soon lost more toward the middle of the taste. The sweeter lemonade is lost largely due to spice flavors of coriander and clove as well as a more grainy wheat flavor coming to the tongue more toward the middle to the end of the taste profile. Along with these tastes, a yeasty flavor comes, bringing with it a grassy and hay like funky taste leaving a rather grainy, grassy and somewhat funky yeast s taste on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the medium side in its creaminess and thickness with a carbonation level that is slightly above average. Both are quite appropriate for the style, keeping a very drinkable brew while not accentuating the funk, yeast, and wheat too much so that it is overpowering, but yet allowing it to be appreciated by the tongue.
Overall – A rather tasty and enjoyable saison with a nice blend of lemon, wheat, yeast and funk.
