COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You might not expect a Saison in winter. But the enemy didn’t expect Washington to cross the icy Delaware, either. Expectations be damned, we say. We’re sneaking up on winter with a boatload of bravado and this Belgian-style farmhouse ale. Dry hopped with whole organic cardamom pods, our Saison has an assertive spiciness. In your face, winter.

12oz can pours a murky neon yellow with some thin, white head. Nose is all spice, coriander, keffir lime, but mostly just cardamom, a little herbal tea. Flavor has more balance, some malt, some straw, some grass, some lemon, a little herbal tea, but a ton of cardamom. Spicy, herbal finish. A bit too much spice for me.

Hazy golden coloured body with a large, three centimetre tall just off-white head. Aroma of spice, coriander seed, light bubble gum and heaps and heaps of yeast. Medium-bodied; Strong spicey characteristics up front with wheat, floral and perfumey hops and a bit of grass and herbs on the side. Aftertaste is dominant with yeast and the spicey coriander seed and white pepper notes of the belgian yeast - this is pungent. Overall, a relatively nice light-styled winter beer that shows some nice components of the yeast, but perhaps too much so. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Arrowine in Arlington, Virginia on 06-January-2014, courtesy of Kevin - Thanks!

32oz growler pours a hazy golden color with a nice white head. Aromas of light spice, citrus, cardamom. Light bodied, little to much spice for, but still pretty good.

Out of the can. Decent beer with a good dry finish & good carbonation. At first the spice isn’t overwhelming, but as the beer goes on it becomes a bit too much. I couldn’t drink two in a row.

A golden color with a white head. The aroma is floral and spicy with some lemon going on. The flavor is very spicy with a huge lemon presence. Some orange notes in there as well. Aftertaste is somewhat sour. Overall a very well made saison.

1/2/14. 12oz can from Warehouse, a few deep now. Mostly clear golden pour under a small khaki head. Plenty of spicy phenolic aspects in the aroma, hints of fruitiness. Lots of spice in the flavor, savory, touches of tartness and fruitiness. Not bad.

Pours two fingers of head on a cloudy light golden body. The aroma is lemon, grain and cardamom. The taste has a dry cardamom flavor with some mild lemon bitterness bring it to an end. The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation. It light and airy overall. Mild flavor. Drinkable and sort of interesting.

Single can from Julio’s. Pours out a light hazy yellow color. Medium white head that settles to lace. Nice aromas of bready pear and spice. Flavor is also of pear notes with good spice balance. Dry bready finish.
