COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You might not expect a Saison in winter. But the enemy didn’t expect Washington to cross the icy Delaware, either. Expectations be damned, we say. We’re sneaking up on winter with a boatload of bravado and this Belgian-style farmhouse ale. Dry hopped with whole organic cardamom pods, our Saison has an assertive spiciness. In your face, winter.

Pours a light fizzy yellow with a white head that sticks around, smells a bit spicy with some hop character, taste the same nothing sticks out too much from this beer. Fairly average

Appearance: very light yellow, with active carbonation jets and a short, fizzy bright white head. Aroma: spicy and herbal, with grass, caraway, coriander, allspice, and of course cardamom (strongly), with some warm citrus and light cracker notes. Taste: typical saison (good) with stronger-than-typical herbal and spice character, a bit of sourdough bread and funk, and some spritzy citrus. Finish: lightly bitter, slightly dry, herbal, and spicy. Notes: Pretty good winter saison. The extra cardamom did somehow lend a bit of a cool weather taste to the otherwise light-bodied beer. Nice. Cool can, too.

At first taste, this seems closer to witbier/Berliner weisse, light and bubbly. some spice and floral notes. Lots of yeast, sourdough aspects to this. some light citrus on the palate, short finish.

Pours a light cloudy yellow. Smells a bit strange...starts a bit like roasted popcorn if that makes sense. Bitter in the middle and finishes bitter. Kinda feels like their watermelon beer. Its not bad.

Canned 14NOV13 Yellow, hazy with a quilt of bone whites. Smells nice with lemongrass, hay, grain, a bit of tartness, some floral tones. Flavor follows suite with a bit of bitterness, some herbal notes, some lemon tea. Full bodied with lowish carb. I like this beer, expected something half assed - good stuff.

Can. Slightly hazy pale gold. Lots of spice (struck me as sage, but I guess it’s cardamom), light funk, very yeasty, light malt. Liked this a lot, but drank a few right out of the can, which probably muted the spice and helped make it more sessionable.

12oz can pours a murky neon yellow with some thin, white head. Nose is all spice, coriander, keffir lime, but mostly just cardamom, a little herbal tea. Flavor has more balance, some malt, some straw, some grass, some lemon, a little herbal tea, but a ton of cardamom. Spicy, herbal finish. A bit too much spice for me.

Pours a golden yellow with a thick white head. Malt, spice, yeast, clove, fruit and hop aroma. Malt, spice, yeast, clove, pear, apple and biscuit flavors. Light body high carbonation. Fruit and malt finish.

Hazy golden coloured body with a large, three centimetre tall just off-white head. Aroma of spice, coriander seed, light bubble gum and heaps and heaps of yeast. Medium-bodied; Strong spicey characteristics up front with wheat, floral and perfumey hops and a bit of grass and herbs on the side. Aftertaste is dominant with yeast and the spicey coriander seed and white pepper notes of the belgian yeast - this is pungent. Overall, a relatively nice light-styled winter beer that shows some nice components of the yeast, but perhaps too much so. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Arrowine in Arlington, Virginia on 06-January-2014, courtesy of Kevin - Thanks!

32oz growler pours a hazy golden color with a nice white head. Aromas of light spice, citrus, cardamom. Light bodied, little to much spice for, but still pretty good.
