COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You might not expect a Saison in winter. But the enemy didn’t expect Washington to cross the icy Delaware, either. Expectations be damned, we say. We’re sneaking up on winter with a boatload of bravado and this Belgian-style farmhouse ale. Dry hopped with whole organic cardamom pods, our Saison has an assertive spiciness. In your face, winter.

This starts with a sweet bready malt aroma, with hints of cardamom. It pours a hazy light straw with a full white head. Nice earthy bitterness to it, very light on the palate. Not a bad saison, although I’d still probably prefer this on a hot summer day.

can. Hazy golden with one finger head. Very nice yeast on this one. Mild, but flavorful. Spicing is light to medium. A pleasant surprise.

Really great spiced saison. Highly underrated IMO. Excellent flavor and aroma, with nice body and finish. Pleasant. I would definitely drink this again.

(tap) clear pale yellow colour with a small white head; aroma of spice, lilies; light, balanced flavour with a long, light sour finish

Can. Pours a cloudy yellow with thick white head. Lemon aroma. Seems like I can taste the alcohol. The beginning is spicy and citrusy and it finishes with a hop bite. A little stronger and heavier than I was expecting but it grows on you as you drink it. Low rating more indicative to the style not being my favorite. 21st is new to my market so I’m trying them all and overall they are very nice.

Can dated Enjoy by 4.30.2015 and cracked the top to an aroma of light, earthy spices and Belgian yeast. Pour is honey-lemon with a soft head, dissipating almost as fast as it rises. Lemony flavor and a lightly sour taste that pulls under the back of my tongue creating a bit of a salivary response. The finish is dry, but short, the swallow leaving an oily feeling across my tongue and the carbonation just saving it from being flat there. Not a bad experience, but nothing terribly exciting either.

Great example for an American style Belgian Session. I’m sure medieval Belgian Monks would have approved and would have joined forces with Washington to perfect his Sneak Attack. 21st Amendment: Please keep up your creativity, and I hope you will soon come up with the perfect CALI/ US Piisner, that combines the greatness of the west with some flavor of the East, and of course the NOBLE hops from the ’old world’ Thanks and please contact me @ erkan.diri@gmx.net Thanks again!! On tap at Evernote. Aroma is mild funk, hay, potpourri. Taste is tart citrus peels, mild funkiness, some spiced Belgian-style notes. I liked the tarter notes but something doesn’t really meld well here.

12oz can from Kroger in Grandview. Murky yellow-gold pour with a finger of bright white head. Aroma is big spicy cardamon, herbal, lemon. Tastes are along those lines - lots of spice, clove, little belgiany banana, floral, wheat. Faint tartness. Solid.

lightly clouded yellow-orange with with a cm of off-white head, medium-fine, that fades moderately quickly. Aroma is slightly tart, hay and grain, some light berry and orange underneath. Smells like it has lactic acid added directly. Body is light, somewhat oily with a bit of grit, medium-fine carbonation of moderate fizzly coarseness with medium-light burn. (Meh on body.) Flavor is tart hay, touch of lemon, a bit of naked lactic, and some light, residual bitterness in the finish that lingers and is slightly astringent. Overall, a subpar saison that has naked lactic in aroma and poor flavor (astringency, lactic). Needs better yeast quality.
