On tap at 21st Amendment Brewery, San Francisco, 28th Feb 2011. Clear gold. "South Park Bland" was one of my friend’s comments. Not much nose, ditto flavour. Not poor but close to being as dull as a macro lager.

On tap. Pours with a very pale, clear straw colored body with noticeable carbonation and a small white head that is quick to fade. Aromas are lightly toasty, grainy aroma, light grassy hop note (saaz?). Very light aroma. Flavors are bready, grainy, toasty, watery, pils malt, light DMS, decently bitter with a bitter/dry balance. Spicy hop profile. Grainy and dry in the finish with lively bubbles.

On tap at the brewery. Pours clear blonde with a thin off-white head and floral aroma. There is a thin pale malt flavor, refreshing, but little else.

A: The pour is a slightly cloudy pale golden straw color with a fluffy white head. S: A bit of corn on the nose which isn’t really surprising, but after that, some nice bread notes take over. Some spicy and floral hop aromas. There’s also a slight earthy note. T: Good cracker and biscuit flavor in terms of the malt character, along with a mild apple juice sweetness. A pretty good hop flavor provides a bit of floral, earthy, and spicy complexity. M: The body is fairly light, maybe approaching medium, with a medium level of carbonation. D: Normally I’m not a big blonde ale fan, but this was quite nice. Had some nice kolsch and pilsner qualities to it.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head. The aroma is spicy hops. The flavor is a smooth unoffensive blonde; sweet with loads of Czech spicy hops. Nice.

Aquilo (464) - Berkeley, California, USA - APR 3, 2010
On tap at 21st Ammendment. Clear golden color with a small head. Very light floral aroma. I can’t smell much in here, so this may be much more interresting if I went outside. I’m not getting the spicyness advertised on the menu. Flavor is lightly bitter, with a floral aftertaste. Crisp mouthfeel. This is a good session ale, but there is better on the menu tonight.

On tap at the brewpub. The body was medium gold with a white head. The aroma was bread with almonds and pears. The taste was light bread with some black pepper hints. A little bland, but decent.
