3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 PapaSkeetSkeet (676) - Corvallis, Oregon, USA - NOV 13, 2011
Definitely in the wrong category. This is a good american amber ale with dates, and perhaps some sugar added to dry it out. Belgian without the yeast and with NW hops. Ruby/brown with light-tan head. Aroma is floral hops and grain. Flavor is light caramel, floral notes, light tree, and some dried out chewy dates come through and grow on you as it warms. A good beer for American breweries! Frothy palate with slight granulation.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 mikesaum (424) - Newark, Ohio, USA - NOV 12, 2011
Pours amber with a tannish head, aroma is hoppy with caramel and date hints, some biscuit. Cannot taste the dates, flavor is hoppy with biscuit and brown sugar hints. Pretty good beer but not what I was expecting at all, I was hoping the dates would be more present.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 oteyj (2113) - New Hampshire, USA - NOV 12, 2011
Clear reddish brown pour with a small grey head. Grapefruit and resinous sweet caramel notes in the nose give way to bready dough, citrus, biscuity sweetness, dark fruit, and hints of orange juice. Medium to full body- resinous sticky finish.

12oz can. Amazing looking can, let’s see how the beer is. Pours out an amber hue, I was told this is akin to a hoppy amber. Aromas are malty, somewhat sweet, not getting much of a hop presence in the nose. Palate however is smooth, abv is well hidden, and there is a definite hop background. Really drinkable and I’m surprised that this is in the HSV category.

Can pours clear dark reddish brown with an average light tan head with some retention. Aromas are hop forward and some sweet maltiness. Taste is rubbing alcohol, grain, some light malt sweetness and some bitterness on the finish. Body is medium, lacing is decent, alcohol is very present. Overall, and OK brew, but have had better from this brewery.

Pours clear deep mahogany into a shaker. Off-white head with good retention recedes leaving scant sheets. Earthy resin aromas. Sweet honey upfront turning to sour vegetable before the lasting pepper and resin finish.

Draft at special brews.pours a very dark but crystal clear brown with rubied edges. Dense creamy tan head. Sweet fruitcake and molasses nose, but very subdued. Not cloying at all...ya gotta get your nose wet to nail the profile. Creamy dense body with lively carb. Sweet black bread, dates, and some tangerine on the mid palate. Mild sweet finish. Could be a tiny bit bolder, but fully delectable as is.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 nsquishee (507) - Richfield, Minnesota, USA - NOV 6, 2011
Decent amount of flavor and spice, but little malt backing. Tastes somewhat astringent and spiced, rather than sweet and complex like other "spiced" ales. Not terrible, but not very impressive.

On draught @ The Porter. Dark amber pour with a fluffy white head. Aroma was resiny pine, light caramel malt, floral and fresh. Flavors were also nice and hoppy filled with pine and light citrus. Mouthfeel was light to medium, somewhat creamy and relaxed carbonation. Good stuff.
