3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Didnít really know what I was getting when I got this on tap at the republic, so I was going into it with no preconceptions. Pour is a slightly hazy dark brown, with a nice lasting tan head and spare lacing. Aroma is HUGE dark fruit, with lots a dark caramel malts backing it up. A touch of pine hops push through as well. Taste is more brown sugar coated dark fruit (Raisins, dates, and figs) with a touch of vanilla and some pine hops lingering. Sweet finish, full mouthfeel. Touch of alcohol warmth. Not bad, but the dark fruit sweetness isnít balanced in any real way.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Can:   Coppery colored, thin to moderate off-white head, a bit sudsy, with sparce lacing.   Somewhat of a
bready and biscuity nose.   An odd duck of astringent biscuity mealy malt flavors on the tongue.   Its a bit hoppier
than most English Ales.   Seems like an ESA meets ASA of sorts, and I am not sure that it works.   Its like many
winter English Strong Ales, except remove the strong biscuity malt profile, dim that down a bunch, and add a stronger than
normal hop back ground.   Not really digging this one, seems really out of balance in terms of hops mated with malts.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Clear red-copper with big, foamy, beige head, good legs / Lean nose of dark fruit, dark caramel, spun sugar, pine / Light to medium body, some bock-like sweetness & syrupy-ness, but lots of hoppy astringency thin this one out, with good bitterness on finish / Stylish flavors of burnt sugar, date, raisin, orange peel, nut, pine / I enjoy the austere, dry nature of this inherently sweet beer; however, the body/fruit could probably have been a little bit bigger.

Can from Gailís Hops and Grapes in Hickory. Deep amber pour. Aroma is roasty malts, dark fruit and spices. Tastes are caramel, bread, nuts, wood, citrus zest, dates and apple. Has a salty vibe. Dries out a little in the finish. Definitely different - well done.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
For me, I canít help but compare this weird fusion by Ninkasi and 21st Amendment to an IPA; both breweries have such outstanding examples in Total Domination and Brew Free or Die!, I was expecting something more along those lines. Itís quite hoppy for an ale, ever so slightly sweet (not something I enjoy particularly). Almost no finish, but again, expecting that strong after-bite so familiar with IPAs. Good, not great, and not worth the $10 per 4 pack, but def. worth a try!
