2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 coldbrewky (1155) - Saugerties, New York, USA - JUN 5, 2011
Draft yesterday at the Dutch with lunch. It was pretty hot and the shade of the bar was quite refreshing...then again when isn’t the bar refreshing? That’s part of the reason I go there. Well the tap handle struck me as unique and I asked for a sample. A 12oz sample was placed before me. Not looking a gift horse and all I consumed it with gusto. I thought the watermelon would be more fleeting. I’ve had watermelons be less watermelony. Now don’t go off and start rambling that I’ve lost it or that my tounge must be on vacation....both of those things happened long ago. All I am stating that this watery brew is quite fruity, but really doesn’t hit me as a solid wheat beer. sure there’s wheat in it but just because I can recognize a New York Yankees logo still don’t make me a fan. (Go Phillies!)
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 kassner (1089) - Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 4, 2010
Can’t say much for this beer except admire the effort. barely hint of watermelon, but astringent aftertatste may be the result, very light cream and slightly cloudy, no head and not much flavor
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 AceOfHearts (1375) - San Francisco, California, USA - SEP 9, 2004
Tap. Slightly hazy, minimal head. I honestly don’t get any sort of watermelon in the taste or flavor, but this can stand on its own as a regular old wit. Dry and yeasty.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 psynthetic (7) - BERKELEY, California, USA - AUG 28, 2004 does not count
This is a different take on the 21st Ammendments Watermelon Wheat beer. About the same ABV, this WIT is a bit spicier then the Wheat version of this beer. More complex with hints of Corriander and banannas will make this yet another summer time hit for the Shawn O’Sullivan and the 21-A!
