COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The hundredth batch of beer to be brewed at our now two-year old brewery. This traditional "farmhouse style" ale is brewed with Belgian malts, hops, yeast and Belgian candy sugar. Light amber in color, this beer has a delicate balance of malt and hops so as to compliment the spicy and fruity yeast notes traditional to the style.

Summer 2006, I don’t really think I would call this a Biere de Garde, and I know that this is somewhat of a catch all style for some American brewers. Very flabby in style, not watered down, but lacking motivation. Very pronounced blond candi sugar notes, a bit of yeastiness, but not nearly enough of a malt background.

Tap at St. Louis Microfest - Golden brown beer with off-white head. Aroma is fruity and spicy with apricot and passionfruit. Medium bodied with understated carbonation and a bit of a grainy feel that works well for the style. Taste has clean malt with bits of apricot and passionfruit that were on the aroma. The finish is spicy and grainy. On the the top beers I had at the Microfest (and sampled multiple times). Very nice beer.

Draft at the St Louis Microfest 5/13/06: Solid amber brew with a solid head. Slightly sour notes that I classified in the grape family ... decent yeasty character. Quite excellent.

On Tap: A deep mahogany color with little to no head. Malty aroma through and through. Swwet brown sugar and molassas flavor. My first taste (I believe) with a Biere de Garde and I think I like it!

tap at st louis microfest. deep copper hue with a soapy white topping. aroma is fruity, grainy with tones of apricot and peach with a nice twang of belgian yeast. flavors are spicy, lightly husky, some nice tannens in there as well with a dark fruit undertone. nice palate with medium carbonation and rich body. finish is lightly sweetened and toasted grains, especially after the beer warms a bit. a very nice brew! This is quickly becoming one of my favorate styles.

On tap at the 2006 Best of the Midwest Brewers’ Festival. Pours a chestnut-colored hazy amber with a medium off-white head. I can’t pick out any aroma at all. Body is fairly watery and weak. Does have an interesting banana and clove ester flavor. I’m not versed enough to appreciate this style, I suppose.
