3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Gregis (1255) - Shawnee, Kansas, USA - FEB 15, 2009
Growler shared by theisti. Pours a deep, deep brown, almost black, with a small, creamy, ecru head. The nose is of sweet dark roast, coffee and dark chocolate. Medium-bodied with an interesting "gritty" carbonation to the mouthfeel. Sweet, roasty and slightly astringent dark roast, coffee and a touch of dark chocolate at the tail-end. This is a solid, sessionable stout. Thanks for sharing it with me, Tim.

Growler from Gregis, transport provided by beastiefan2k. Filled ~12 days prior. Pour is black, nice settling leads to a 1 inch tan head that falls really fast. Aroma of tobacco, oats, and roasty maltiness. Some dark chocolate behind that. Taste is the roasted coffee, with semi sweet dark chocolate. Also a dried fruit sweetness evident. Nice milky chalky oats behind that. Palate is medium, coats the mouth a bit, though still drinkable. Nice one, tasty oatmeal stout.

Growler from brewpub. Poured into pint glass with a very small, quickly fading, but dark brown color. The color is great but i could barely get a look at the head. Its a good sweet stout. All over there is lots of sweetness from the oats, as well as a decent amount of prune, which I like in my stouts, melding well with the sweetness. There is a light roast, not getting in the way, as well. And as always, very easy drinking beer from this brewery. I think I took 3 pints of this growler, it was that tasty.
