COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
American Craft Beer Week celebrates the independent spirit, craftsmanship, and community fostered by the American craft brewer. In that spirit the brewers of Free State Beer, Blind Tiger, and 23rd Street offer up the Full Kimono, an Imperial Red Ale released this Friday, May 11th. Head Brewers Geoff Deman (Free State), John Dean (Blind Tiger), and Bryan “Bucky” Buckingham (23rd Street) designed the recipe together and collaboratively brewed the three batches of Full Kimono at each otherʼs breweries in three successive days. At over 10% ABV (alcohol by volume) and hopped to the hilt with more hops than any of the three breweries have previously employed in a single batch, the Full Kimono is something special indeed. Full of hop flavor but balanced by a full malt backbone, the Full Kimono lays bare the “magic” of the brewerʼs art for all to enjoy.

On tap at the brewpub. Comes dark amber with an average biege head. Aroma of malt, bread, and fruit. Taste is malt, sweet bread, and citrus fruits. Interesting. Brewer stated that it had been aged for one year.

1 year old keg at the brewpub to celebrate KC Craft Beer Week. Poured with a thick old head atop a dark ruby red body into a shaker glass. Dark with good clarity. In a nutshell I think I like this beer even more aged. The malts have taken on a heavier flavor, not a sherry yet but a sweet dark bread. The hop bitterness is still present and some sweet hop flavor. Reminds me of Big Foot when I used to like it. Really enjoyed the beer but I would not want to let this go another year.

Draft at the source. ABV listed as 9.79. Pretty precise. Clear dark chestnut color, bright white edge head. Aroma of tropical fruit and brown bread. Taste is juicyfruit and lemonpeel.
