COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Not your ordinary Alt. This Alt was made to surprise! Big malt, big hop. Extremely smooth mouthfeel, with warming notes as you drink this beer. Made with a steam lager hybrid yeast and hopped with a ton of German Spalt hops.

GABF 09. Pours a dirty copper pipe- light brown with a thin off white head. Aroma is grassy citrus hops, herbal and earthy- a bit floral with a spalt mintiness sharp caramel and light nutty roast. Flavor is more nutty roast hints of chocolate and toffee, leather earth and grassy spalt hops with just a hint of diacetyl as it warms but I can get over that. Nice.

Shaker @ brewpub, a few times now. Clear copper, light brown color. Has a sticky lacing with a thick head. The problem here is it just comes off as a hoppy American brown ale. It is clean, American hops, even seems like an American yeast. The hops are too bitter for the style, has nothing traditional about it coming through. Not a bad drinker just not an Alt. The first time I had this I thought they gave me the IPA by accident. I’ll drink it but I wont call it an Alt.

UPDATED: MAY 30, 2009 Draft at the brewery. Pours a thin head over an (SRM 15) clear body.....nose is light, with light roasted malt tones, minimal hop floral......taste initially slight sweet then mild bitter finish...light mouth feel, low carbonation. Over all a medium malt back bone resulting in relatively smooth ale. Nose and taste were a little light.
