COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Origin of name: This beer is named after its unique garnet red-brown color (darker than most dark beers). The color of Černá Hora Granát could lead its consumer to call it a "black beer". Taste: it is characterized by its fullness, sweetness and very dark color. A high proportion of Bavarian, caramel and coloring malt based on a longstanding recipe gives the beer its unmistakable caramel taste and markedly influences its bitterness. It is distinguishable by its good head and vigor. Has won 1st place in category of dark lagers upon competition - "The Golden Cup PIVEX - BEER 1999". Winning competition "Dočesná Žatec" in 1995 -1999 years

I had this beer on tap in Prague. It had a dark brown color with a touch of an amber/red hue, and a huge creamy and foamy light tan head with good retention and a lot of cling. The aroma had some earthy hops with a touch of floral hops, along with some grain and cereal notes. It had a subtle sweet malt flavor, but was also somewhat bitter with a grainy/earthy taste component. The body was somewhat light with low carbonation and was a bit thin and a touch watery.

Bottle @ Qingdao beer festival. Black with small but stable tan head. Great asphalt and coal malts. Dry but with a licorice twist. Flavors are dry with some bitterness in the finish that is dull and papery but flavorful at the same time. Slightly chalky. Lingering bitter finish is reminiscent of olive and fruit pits. Not herbal or hoppy in a traditional way at all. Tree bark, cola nut, seeds. Smooth malt character. Easy going beer.

Dark brown colour. Hazy with a thin head. Sweet, sugary, caramelly aroma. Clean dark sugars and malts on the palate. Smooth, balanced, clean. This is well-made lager.

50 cl bottle from "Il Regno di Gambrinus". Served inti a tumbler glass. Pours a very dark but extremely clear blood red colour, some burnt caramel highlights, with a small light beige head. Pretty average lacing. Aroma of toasted malts, coffe, chocolate. Very nice balance between the sweetness and the hops bitterness. Not too watery texture, almost creamy. Solid!

Sehr röstiger Malzantrunk, leicht süß. Im Mittelteil macht sich der Hopfen bemerkbar, der Einfluss der Röstigkeit ist klar erkennbar. Würzig-malzig werdend, vollmundig. Guter Einsatz des Malzes! Test vom 24.9.2008, Gebinde: Fass Noten: 11,11,11,12,-,11 - 11,15
