COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Origin of name: the name of the beer comes for the mutual cooperation between the brewery and the rock group Kern. Taste: Kern combines the classic bitterness of light beers with the sweeter caramel taste of dark beers. These characteristics are not obtained by mixing ready made beer. It obtains its taste by mixing various types of malt during the brewing process. Kern has a reddish to granite color and a pleasant hops to slightly caramel fragrance. It is produced in the attempt to satisfy every beer consumer who likes to combine light and dark beers.

Bottle from Zly Casy bottle shop Prague. Pours clear amber/dark golden with a big creamy off-white head. Aroma is light fresh, grassy hops and moderate sweet caramel. Taste is caramel with noticeable grassy hops, balanced well , so the focus point is on the sweet malty side. Lingering dry hoppy aftertaste. Good beer.

Bottle: Thanks Douberd: Served in a shaker: Fluffy sticky creamy head on top of a clear amber colored beer. Aromas of the 4 m’s: malt, meat, metal, minerals... Flavours of malts, sweat, bitter, herbs, some dried leaves and watery prunes with a cardboard edge. Aftertaste is malty, light bitter, some dried leaves and a light sweet tone. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, low bodied and a watery texture. Meh...

Clear reddy body with good head that didn’t really hang around. Light aroma, a little floral then some caramel. Taste is mainly malt, caramel is fairly light, sweet, drinkable but just a little bit dull - saying that I don’t always like lagers.

0,5 l bottle, bought in a newly opened pub at Hegedűs Gyula utca, Budapest.
Poured deep amber some reddish caramel tones, small lacing light beige head. Moderated aroma with some caramel, toasted grains, sourish yeast, minimal hop. Medium bodied one with a similar flavor profile as the aroma. Some toasted caramel, some yeast, minimal hop. Easy drinkable, good beer for a party but not a very exciting one.

Bottle 500 ml at home, into a big Guinness glass. ABV 3.8% Amber coloured, still transparent , minimal activity in the glass. Two fingers of thick and soapy tan head, with good retention, leaving minimal lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel, toffee, malts, kind of fruity. Taste is grassy and malty, nothing very interesting, then some caramel and light toffee, along with faint metal. Medium thin body, average carbonation. Overall okay beer.

ElDesmadre (1473) - Mikołów, POLAND - DEC 9, 2012
Draught at House Of Beer, Krakó. Oh well, if you’re bound for a Czech beer with a major flaw, then this flaw will be a bucketload of diacetyl. Cocoa butter mixed with caramel in the aroma and flavour, weak and watery body. Bland and way too much butter in this one.
