COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Origin of name: the name of the beer comes for the mutual cooperation between the brewery and the rock group Kern. Taste: Kern combines the classic bitterness of light beers with the sweeter caramel taste of dark beers. These characteristics are not obtained by mixing ready made beer. It obtains its taste by mixing various types of malt during the brewing process. Kern has a reddish to granite color and a pleasant hops to slightly caramel fragrance. It is produced in the attempt to satisfy every beer consumer who likes to combine light and dark beers.

Editor’s note: Formerly ABV used to be 4%.

Botttle tasted at „Pivo Söröző”, Bp. Clear dark amber pour with a medium off-white head, which remains filmy. Sweetsourish smell of caramell and nuts. Pleasantly sharp start, mouthfeel is a bit thin, but o:k. Medium kinded aroma of caramell, nuts, grass and yeast, flavour is of toffee and roasted nuts. The finish brings spice, citrus and nutty bitterness along, which remain in a nutty aftertaste. Easy drinkable, pleasant vienna stuff.

Brežice Beer Fest. Typical dark amber polotmavé body with a small white head. Mild sweetish aroma, caramel and not much else really. Sticky malt-intensive taste, again with aggressive (?!) caramel, while being slightly too watery. What? All in all, can’t say I liked it that much, but it’s OK for the ABV and all. Not my style.

50cl Bottle from Houseofbeer.nl. ABV is 3.8%. Clear amber colour, off-white head. Aroma of some caramel, toast, some veggies, all very faint. Flavour is light, fizzy, caramel, light toast, light metallic bitter finish. Light-bodied, very fizzy. Not very good.

Butelka. Aromat słodu z maleńkim dodatkiem ziół. Jest coś miodowo - maślanego. Kolor bursztynowo - czerwony.

Bottle 30cl. Clear red copper color, two finger fluffy light tan head, disappears after a while, only rim remains, minimal lacing; sweet malty nose, toasted, caramel, hint of dark fruit, grass; taste moderate sweet, slightly bitter, bit earthy, cardboard; light body, oily to watery texture, soft carbonation; mild bittersweet finish.

Bottle. Body has clear darker pale color, kinda like a fusion, low to medium frosty white head. Aroma has caramel touch, little bit coffee like in the background, quite weak. Taste has high earthy bitterness with light to medium caramel sweetness, really long bitter after taste, balanced to the bitterness across the palate, little bit too much for my taste. Refreshing at first but quite heavy a the end of the bottle. Body is full, high carbonation.

Bottle: Thanks Douberd: Served in a shaker: Fluffy sticky creamy head on top of a clear amber colored beer. Aromas of the 4 m’s: malt, meat, metal, minerals... Flavours of malts, sweat, bitter, herbs, some dried leaves and watery prunes with a cardboard edge. Aftertaste is malty, light bitter, some dried leaves and a light sweet tone. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, low bodied and a watery texture. Meh...

Bottle 500 ml at home, into a big Guinness glass. ABV 3.8% Amber coloured, still transparent , minimal activity in the glass. Two fingers of thick and soapy tan head, with good retention, leaving minimal lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel, toffee, malts, kind of fruity. Taste is grassy and malty, nothing very interesting, then some caramel and light toffee, along with faint metal. Medium thin body, average carbonation. Overall okay beer.

Bottle @ home shared by me. Dark amber colour with a huge off-white head. Smells malty, green leafs, nothing crazy. Tastes slightly caramel, malty, bitter, slightly watery. Thin body, soft carbo.

Bottle shared by Dutchdrebus @ weekly tasting. Clear amber to autumnal brown color, full sized decently lasting off-white head. Smell and taste malts, caramel, slightly raisins, quite surprisingly a decent bitterness. Probably the first polotmavy I will actually finish.
