Great Taste of the Midwest 2014 Offering (Madison, WI). Pours a deep dark pour, opaque blackish elements with nice frothy brownish head atop. Dark and lively with some legs on the swirl. Aromas are rich with coffee, cocoa and toast. Touches of roast, earth and coffee. Mellow oak, touches of toffee. Initial is medium bodied a bit firmer with nice roast and coffee, touches of oak, caramel and biscuit. Middle is a bit roasty and dry, touches of girth and gentle dark fruit. More coffee grounds and pretzels into the back. A bit dry, firmer roast and a bit ashy into the backend. Some earth, firmer toast and coffee as we finish. Toasty, dry and roasty. Nice stuff. Even in the warmer summer weather of the festival.

Draft. Suprisingly no line. A highlight of GTOM. Huge coffee flavor, rich silky texture, big on the cocoa, and solid bitterness.

Tasted at Jason’s anti-Hombrew-Club gathering, thanks for sharing! It poured an opaque, very dark brown colour, reddish at the edges when held to the light, with everlasting brown foam and lace. Excellent Imperial Stout characteristics: bready, toasty, roasty enhanced by complex Kenyan coffee which enhanced the nutty, chocolaty, black cherry and plum-like tartness, and red wine grape tannins. Some pleasant oxidation. Medium-heavy body with low carbonation, well-rounded chewy mouthfeel, with lingering bittersweet complex aftertastes. Good stuff.

Sample at SRBG 2014. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of coffee, malt, vanilla, and chocolate. Taste is coffee, roasted malt, dark chocolate, and vanilla. Well balanced. Very, very good! And I don’t drink coffee.

Taste during RBSG from a 750ml bottle. Black color. Thin ring of brown head. Leaves decent bits of lace. Awesome coffee nose. Big coffee, vanilla, burnt sugar, creme brûlée, burnt caramel type flavors all in the nose, and some chocolate syrup. Mild roast in the flavor, light earthy bitter hop. Moderate to bigger bitter taste. Light sweet. Hides ABV intensely well. Drinks like 9% or so. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft, chewy texture to it. Lightly dry finish. Awesome coffee imperial stout.

Bottle. Thick black inky pour, nice layer of mocha head. Aroma, fresh ground coffee, vanilla, lots of roast. Taste, lots of roast up front, slightly bitter, not a coffee bomb, no hint from the ABV. Overall, this is really to my liking lots of coffee but not overbearing. Yum.

Batch 2 with Karimikui coffee. 750 ml bottle poured into a snifter. Hint of ammonia in the nose-a little unpleasant. Pours dark brown/black with a quickly dissipating dark tan head. Taste is great-lots of deep roasty flavor, chocolate, fruity brightness from the coffee beans. Medium carbonation with robust mouthfeel that coats. Drink now if you have one. Really well done as usual. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
