COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a good chewy stout that has been a good bit of chocolate aroma and flavor yadda yadda, blah blah. You’ve heard it all before, just drink it and you’ll see how good it is.

750. Pours a dark brown that lets some light shine through and supports a decent tan head. Aromas of coffee and chocolate with a little peat or something kind of earthy like that. Flavor is a little thin for an imperial (bottle says 7.1% and I believe that’s about right as there isn’t much ABV burn) but has a nice medley of dark and milk chocolate with a hint of dark fruit and a bit of earthiness. This is good stuff, but a little underfunded for the style in my opinion.

750 ml bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of smoke, roastiness, toffee and light dark fruit. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of smoke, carmel, toffee and light roastiness with a smooth dry lingering smokey finish.

Bottle. Pour is very dark brown/ almost black with a large brown head. Aroma is initially milk chocolate which quickly gives way to roasted malt and a hint of brandy macerated berries. Flavor is Smooth roasted malt with hints of cocoa powder and a light roasty finish. Solid and easy to drink.

It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of coffee, chocolate and some earthy features. The flavor was average and had a nice combination of dark and milk chocolate with some fruit and more earthiness. A very enjoyable Imperial Stout.

Capped 750 at 7.1% from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours pretty black with a decent dark tan head. Aroma is sort of milk chocolate over some smooth burnt malt. Full bodied. Frothy carb. Flavor is smooth burnt malt with sort of darkish chocolate. There is some bitter that might be coffee. This is a bit complex - beyond my power of description - it is much tastier than most of this style. Maybe it goes a bit cacao in the end. Nice drink.

750ml Bottle (at 7.1%ABV per the Bottle): Got in trade from Phaleslu; THANKS Peter! Aroma of malt, roasting, hops, burning, coffee, and light cocoa powder. Poured pitch black in color with a medium-sized, creamy, dense, brown head that diminished but lasted throughout. Opaque. Sparkling. Very good lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of malt, roasting, ash, light chocolate, light hops, and a hint of pine. Medium body. Lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Malt, roast, ash, light chocolate finsih. 7.1%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

750ml bottle - 7.1% ABV on the label. Pours pitch black with a very dark tan head, extremely thick, that leaves lots of lacing and a thick rocky cap. Aroma is roasty with tons of dark malts and hints of coffee and cocoa powder. There is also an earthy, maybe hoppy, presence in the nose. There is also some vanilla. The taste is also very roasty, plenty of cocoa and a hint of smoke. Sweet vanilla and roasted coffee notes in the background. Finish is bitter and highly roasty. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with strong carbonation and, again, very roasty. This is a nice, easy drinking stout that sticks to the roasty character throughout. The sweetness is mild but present. Very good.

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2011 Good stout, but is actually 7.1% and kind of light for an imperial stout. The beer has a great nose, but it feels lighter than I would have expected. If you?ve ever had the cat spit stout, it feels like that, but with more depth. The chocolate really comes through in the nose and in the taste. Overall this is a very good beer. I would especially recommend it for people who are just getting into heavier stouts as this one is definitely not overpowering.

Sampled at 2011 Augusta Bottoms fest - Pours dark brown with a tan head that’s a bit orange as well. The aroma has dark chocolate, heavy roast, coffee, cream and milk. It is a full bodied beer with soft carbonation. The flavor starts like the aroma with lots of cocoa/chocolate, smooth roast and some dates and figs. The finish is smooth and malty with lots of chocolate traits. Great stout.
