Pour out of bottle, Darkness Day 2012, thanks Aaron! Hazy orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of nice white fruit, biscuit, bread, some slight grass, grain, nice yeasty notes in there as well with a touch of some slight spice in there. Taste is a nice balanced mix of white fruit, biscuit, bread, yeast, hints of grass, grainy notes, slight spice, finishing fairly sweet but nice and dry as well.

Bottle @ Darkness Day 2012 shared with friends and a couple of dirty hippies. A bit hazy, pretty bright golden appearance with an off white head. A bit spicy, straw, light lemon citrusy, a bit herbal aroma. Mild barnyard, somewhat spicy, lemon citrusy flavor. Not a bad brew and I’m looking forward to having more of their stuff in the future.

Enjoyed at home. 750ML in a HFS tulip at 65 Degrees F. Pours a gorgesous bright clear yellow. Huge solid white carbonation that starts big and fades to a finger and sticks around with a huge amount of bubbles. Smell is full of honey and grapes with wheat and french bread. Taste is Unique. Sort of boring bland chewy wheat taste followed by a very dry grape skin taste, honey and spices.

Bottle at BCTC at the campsite. Pours a hazy glowing gold. Big musk, light wheat. Long musk and toast. Spicy yeast, musk. Big yeast, lemon. Lots of musk, lemony yeast. Clean and smooth. Very refreshing.

Sampled at Midwest Belgian Beer Fest. Light malty flavor. Tart, malty, spicy flavors. Aroma and flavors were pretty light and subtle.

Sample from beer fest. Poured a copper color with a smaller white head. Did leave behing minimal lacing. Aroma was citrus, grapefruit and spruce. Flavor was balanced. Citrus with grapefruit that finished with some hoppy pine balance. Decent beer.

This is a decent saison but I didn’t find myself impressed enough to seek out more releases from 2nd Shift. I might have one or two lurking in the cellar but with plenty of other better local options in the Saint Louis area I will be stocking up on those instead.

Aroma / Appearance - The golden body is transparent; the light slows only briefly before moving on. A crisp white head folds in on itself. Apple cider, lemons, and white grapes give this a fruity nature.

Flavor / Palate - The mix of lemons, hops, and yeast is soft. A yeasty transition carries itself to a dry finish that sticks in the back of the throat. While there are no outstanding flaws neither is there anything to get me excited. Given the price tag I would pass on this one.

It poured a copper/orange color with a white head. The aroma was of light spice and herbal with hints of grass and sweet malt. The taste was of light grass and faint spices with hints of bread and biscuit malt. A very good Saison.

750 ml bottle that lets loose with a hiss and pours a dingy straw color with a thin white head. Aromas are a little grassy with some spice (coriander and white pepper?) a little lemon and some honey. Flavor is a nice mix of lemon peel tartness and some grass and honey. It’s pretty dry but some sugar does come through to balance the tart edges.

Bottle-thanks to Vyvvy for sharing this well made Missouri Saison! pours cloudy yellow with a rocky white head. nose is lightly funky, some lemon, lite spice (ginger) lite sulfur egg note detected. flavors are lite slightly grainy and lemonish. spritzy body with sharp carbonation. fairly well made Saison here however, could use a bit less carbonation. The sulfur note, even though not really detracting, could be toned down a bit. all in all a decent brew.
