Tap. Poured a hazy yellow color with a smaller white head. The head faded rather quick. Aroma was grass, bread, and some hops. Flavor was well balanced. Straw flavor. Sweeter up front with a somewhat hoppy aftertaste. Thinner body. Average beer.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 agbeer (11) - Illinois, USA - JUL 9, 2011
Pours a faint straw with a decent head. Has a toasty aroma with hint of pine needles and grapefruit. Has a nice wheat flavor against a Citra hops backdrop. Finishes clean - surprising for a hoppy wheat. Different but good!
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 vyvvy (2877) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - JUN 19, 2011
Sampled at St. Louis Microfest 2011 - Pours clear golden/yellow with a white head. The aroma has crisp american wheat ale to it with some spicy hops. Medium/light crisp body with sharp carbonation. The flavor starts out with clean crisp american wheat ale traits along with spicy and piny hops ~ much like the aroma. The finish emphasize the hops even more. Nice crisp refreshing hoppy beer.

Pour is a almost clear yellow with a big white head. Aroma is grain and a bit of piney hops. Flavor is a nice wheat and again a nice hoppy backbone to follow. Finish does not leave much of and after taste. Its a really hoppy wheat. Now here is a brewer that took a regular wheat ale and did something different to it. I say Bravo!
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 phaleslu (3530) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - FEB 9, 2011
The second release from 2nd Shift, Wheat Freak, just hit The Royale last night and they hope to have it to more accounts soon. Pours a bright, cloudy gold color with a big white head. The keg was just tapped so there’s a lot of foam in the first handful of pours, but it looks like it will have a thick, creamy, rocky head anyway. Aroma starts with a big Citra hop note, followed by citrus and tropical fruits, pale and sweet malts, and some wheat. The flavor stays pretty faithful to the nose, albeit with a little more wheat. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a mouthfeel that is sweet, fruity, hoppy, and bitter all at once. Think Gumballhead (or Burn Ward Wheat if you’re an STL local), and this is along those lines- a hopped-up American wheat ale that drinks so, so easily. Awesome beer.
