Armand’4 Herfst Oude Geuze is a blend of 1, 2 and 3 year old Lambic, brewed, aged, blended and bottled by Armand Debelder. This one-time and possibly the last bottling comes in a fancy Asti Spumante Champagne bottle. Armand only used Challenger hops in this brew. He’s in fact the only lambic-brewer to use Challenger hops to make his Geuze. 60 % malted barley, 40 % wheat, aged hops and water. Each season’s geuze has an unique and different blend.

Hazy orange with a huge rough off white head. Sour nose with wood, hay, sour apples, brett and leather. Flavor was a bit more sour than lente and zomer. Found notes of wood, hay, leather and lemon. Finished dry and sour.

"100/100 on RB and I can kinda see why. Agressively sour but oh so tasty. All lemons and stinky cheese (no green olive - yay!) The carbonation and feel were the beer’s only fault, and even that is nitpicking. Among the best in style for sure."

Looks.. amber orange large head on first pour. Smells.. green apples, citrus, oak, sappy, dark honey Tastes.. green apples, vinegar, lemon, dried crushed leaf earthiness via the oak. So smooth.. & swearing how good it was after each sip.

Little cloudy dark beige to amber beer, small aery head, little stable. Aroma: very fruity, bit moldy, cellar, wood notes, little vinous, hint of banana, bit lemony, sourish. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: lemony start, bit grassy, sour green apples, wood notes, some walnuts, pretty sour and acidic. Aftertaste: dry, earthy, lemon juice, bit of alcohol, little bitter, apple skin.

Bottle. Pours golden orange in color with a whitish head. Old stable leather, some barnyard, lemon and tart apples in aroma. Nice. Earthy fruityness, lemon, garden sour fruityness and wooden notes in taste. Apples and bit of oaky notes in finish. Feels a bit like walking in an old and quite damp garden somehow. Easy to drink, even if there’s a lot going on here. Tart, almost peppery bitingness, some cinnamon and yet there’s that nice fruityness in finish.

Bottle split with JF at a Sue’s away mini tasting in the ’Sham, 11/03/14, from an IP trade at Borefts ’13. Hazed dark orange amber with a good sized off white head that retains well. Nose is sharp citric fruit, musty, horseblanket, funky, twangs, citric tinged straw, touch of dry rot. Taste comprises dank wood, Grandads shed, light acidic tinges, bitter lemon rind, ripe apple, funky, tarte grape skin. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, tarte citric licks in a drying close. Solid top draw gueuze, words don’t really do it justice!

Lukaduke (2243) - Portland, Maine, USA - MAR 5, 2014
Pours a deep golden almost copper color with a finger of gaseous foam. The nose is heavy earthy mushroom, soured peaches, dusty lemon and some underlying musty barrel notes. The palate follows with a smooth soft mouthfeel, lots of complexity bordering the earthy and fruity with a big dose of dusty citrus and rotten stonefruit. Long puckering finish.
