4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750mL Bottle. Thanks to Sean for sharing. Strong sulfury nose, that’s very potent edging on ripe brushed rind cheese, flint, and horseys. Sharp tang up front. I don’t think the flavors push the way the aroma does. Reminds me very much of the near-olive pickled quality that older unblendeds have. I like this, but I think it’s not quite as.incredible as the hype makes it oit to be. Sharper than I expect from Drie, more like a Hanssens.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottled, thx to Countbeer. Slight hazy golden orange color, short head. Lovely aroma, barnyard, horseblanket, slight fruity note even. Soft and balanced taste, amazing soft sourish taste, almost creamy mouthfeel for a gueuze. No harshness at all. Truly wonderful gueuze.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. Pours a nice bright orange color with a frothy white head. Aroma is really complex and funky with horseblanket, barnyard and old musty cellar notes, along with very vinous qualities, almost like champaign. I get white grapes, green apple, lemon and vinegar. The flavor is just as complex, and quite sour/tart, with lots of the barnyard, wet hay, horesblanket kind of funk. Again it is very champaign like, just much more complex. With lots of lemon, white grape, white balsamico, vinegar and green apple. The body is light to medium with a dry mouthfeel. Overall a fantastic Gueuze, and probably the best I have ever had. I certainly need to check out the other Gueuzes from the Armand 4 series!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle courtesy of mreusch, tasted along with the Zomer. The pour is a haze yellow golden along with a nicely formed white head. Aroma is the house character of 3 Fonteinen, a bit of plastic, and light sour and funk in the back. It all comes to together well, and is quite soft and approachable. The taste is lemon citrus tartness right up front, followed close behind with the funk of the nose, some of the burnt plastic near the end, and the tart sour lemon carries the longish finish. The palate features spritzy champagne like effervenseance. Clean and tart finish, really drinkable stuff. Thanks for sharing these gems Matt.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Side by side with the Zomer and later a November ’08 bottling of the regular Oude Geuze. Color is thick golden to light orange, cannot see through it. Thick head that sticks around for a while. 3F house character here is more of a burnt-fire tire, like a match to rubber. Flavor has a strong tart kick and a long long drying tart aftertaste. Dry and slight more tart than the Lente. Shared by Matt, thank you thank you sooo muchhhh.
