COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Armand’4 Winter Oude Geuze is a blend of 1, 2 and 3 year old Lambic, brewed, aged, blended and bottled by Armand Debelder. This one-time and possibly the last bottling comes in a fancy Asti Spumante Champagne bottle. Armand only used Challenger hops in this brew. He’s in fact the only lambic-brewer to use Challenger hops to make his Geuze. 60 % malted barley, 40 % wheat, aged hops and water. Each season’s geuze has an unique and different blend.

Finally completed this series with this tick of the Winter edition... Bottle poured hazy, amber/golden/orange with a well laced head. An amazing aroma of citrus, funk, earthy spices, and wood. A lot of those aroma notes translated into the flavor too. Mouthfeel was just right, not too dry and attenuation was spot on. Some sour acidic notes, but a great deal of horse-blankey brett notes and funky barnyard characters. Seriously amazing.

@ RBESG 13 Grand Tasting, oranje en niet helder, witte schuimkraag, ruikt zuur, fruitig, framboos, wel lekker maar veel koolzuur

Warm golden colour, white head. Aroma of citrus, funk, lemon peel, rubber, bicycle tire. Sour flavour, lactic acid, berries, grapefruit, funk and brett. Sour finish, very fresh, citric acid and funk. Great beer, aging well.

750mL bottle shared by a generous soul during RBWG 2013. This was my least favorite of the four versions. Fizzy golden pour with a nice off-white head. Funk, sour, doughiness, some barnyard and touches of lactic sourness as well. Very nice!

Bottle. Amber hazy beer with a white head. Sorurish, citrus, barry, tart and a bit rubber aroma. Sourish, berry, grapefruite, citrus, rubber flavour with some earty notes. I love this beer :-)

Sampled @ RBESG 13 Grand Tasting. Orange to amber colour with a small white head. Smells car tire, rubbery, sour. Tastes sour, dusty and car tire. But not in a bad way! Quite a lot of carbo and a medium body.

UPDATED: JUL 6, 2013 750 ml bottle to snifter (HUGE thanks to LeAnn for opening the set!). Looks good; a hazy orange with foamy white head. Smells nice; cheesy and funky. Tastes like it smells with a nice, tart mouthfeel. Outstanding.

(bottle) pours a murky golden colour with a frothy white head. aroma of young cheese and white bread, rose petals, onion skins and apple vinegar. flavour has a lot of earthy spiciness, a hint of pepper, cornflakes, herbal hops and peppermint, with a slightly tart finish. medium-bodied with lively carbonation.

Bottle at RBESG ’13 Grand Tasting. Pours hazy light orange with a medium white head. Very nice and strong geuze aroma, bit sweet, barn, funk and some caramel. Taste is really nicely balanced between sweet and sour with barn, some green apples and fruitiness. Nicely balanced and very full in both aroma and taste.

75cl Bottle at RBESG’13 Grand Tasting. Hazy golden amber colour, white head. Aroma is a bit rubbery (fietsband), sour, lemon acid, funky. Flavour is sour, tart, light funky, a touch rubbery, apples. Complex?! As with most Gueuzes, I get nothing else but acidic sourness or green apples. Not the worst I’ve had though.
