COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Armand’4 Winter Oude Geuze is a blend of 1, 2 and 3 year old Lambic, brewed, aged, blended and bottled by Armand Debelder. This one-time and possibly the last bottling comes in a fancy Asti Spumante Champagne bottle. Armand only used Challenger hops in this brew. He’s in fact the only lambic-brewer to use Challenger hops to make his Geuze. 60 % malted barley, 40 % wheat, aged hops and water. Each season’s geuze has an unique and different blend.

Pours hazy orange with a nice little white head. The nose is lemons, apples, funk, little vinegar with a little straw. The taste is medium high sweet, high sour and low medium bitter with a nice balance sour sweet finish. The texture is crisp and refreshing, the body is light and the finish is long.

Bottle share at blue monk, thank you Swoopjones. Pours a hazy gold with a thin white head. Smells tart and sweet. Apples, some hay, barnyard. Tastes very smooth, tart body with a bitter finish. Less aggressive than the other from this evening.

Bottled. Amber color with rich frothy foam. Dry woody nose with hints of oak, grapefruit and gentle phenols. Flavour is dry woody and grapefruity, with notes of goat cheese, smokey phenols, ripe green apple and oak. High acidity here. Musty mouthfeel. Almost puckering after due to the tannins and the dryness. Really complex.

Sampled at the CCB/RateBeer/Pre-Hunah Tasting (Tampa, FL). Pours a rich hazy golden amber pour, a bit darker in body. Orange glow. Frothy bigger offwhite head dies down. Aromas are nice and tart, lemon and crab apple, some sticky dough and straw dryness. Gentle oak. Initial is medium bodied, a touch lighter with lemon, orange, firmer lactic presence. Gentle sweet tarts, yogurt, and natural lemon Chaobi appeal. Middle is a bit sweet, fruity, bread and pineapple, some crab apple, more lemon. Backend is a bit more dry, tart, lactic with a touch metallic feel. Finish is a bit sweeter, peach and fruit, some sweetness, straw, firmer lactic tangy sourness lingers on. Nice beer.
