COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Armand’4 Winter Oude Geuze is a blend of 1, 2 and 3 year old Lambic, brewed, aged, blended and bottled by Armand Debelder. This one-time and possibly the last bottling comes in a fancy Asti Spumante Champagne bottle. Armand only used Challenger hops in this brew. He’s in fact the only lambic-brewer to use Challenger hops to make his Geuze. 60 % malted barley, 40 % wheat, aged hops and water. Each season’s geuze has an unique and different blend.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2013 Bottle shared by MatSciGuy, thanks Levi! Hazy yellow/copper pour with quickly disappating white head. Aroma is incredible funk: dirty cheese, outdoorsy but awesome. Flavor is sour but not.overpowering, very well balanced and nicely acidic. Great beer.

Bottle shared by Brad, late night/early morn lobby tasting at RBWG. Fuck yes. This one was tasty as all the others--lots of leather, oak, funk. Sparkly and delicious. Drie Fonteienen is my highest rated brewery for a reason. I don’t think I’ve ever had anything from Armand that was less than awesome.

Bottle (750 ml) @ an Armand’4 tasting. Slightly hazy golden with a small white head and good lacing. Aroma is of fruits (lots), 3 Fonteinen classic funky notes and leather. Taste is really fruity (white grapes, but also red fruits notes which is surprising in a Gueuze) with barnyard and pleasant sourness. Prickly carbonation. More agressive than Zomer/Herfst but a little less than Lente. The body of this one is also a little heavier than Lente, it’s still extremely drinkable though. Great balance and a lot of complexity again here. Great Gueuze!

UPDATED: MAR 10, 2013 Bottles (all 4!) shared by Tommy and David, thanks! OK, so now we’ve reached the final bottle.. err... season. Whatever. It might be that my palate got trained by all the previous bottles but now we’ve reached the pinnacle! This one is again golden like all other seasons but Lente (Spring). The big white head leaves crazy lacing. This one seems a little less sour to me and more approachable. There is even, I believe, a little bit more residual sugar in this one. Anyway, another great gueuze by the best gueuze blender out there... Armand himself! Do not hesitate to seek this serie out, it is really worthy of its hype!

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2013 Tasted all 4 seasons of Armand blind next to each other. Shared with Mathieu87. Appearance: too much head... gusher. Nose: more soft nose, somewhat fruity. Taste: Lactic acid-like, very nice and dry

huge thanks for sharing this one tommy! slightly hazy golden with a nice white head, good retention and lacing. barn, funk, grass and herbs, pepper, citrus, faint leafiness. prickly carbonation - never offensive, medium acidity, very nice grassy-herbal-citrusy finish... wow... again...
